went for a putt tonight and it started coming on when stopped at a light

did it a few times

always once stopped, and it would go back off when the brake pedal was released

any ideas?

thanks, don

ps - did a search, something about door open key on remove # 5 fuse for 10 secs and then replace????

is that for real?

Sounds like you might have a vacuum booster leak when you have your foot on the brake. The light will come on with low/no vacuum.

I also had that problem when my rear brakes were out of adjustment. It was taking more pedal to engage the shoes. I adjusted them in some and the light was not a problem anymore.

Phil,

You mean I had to replace the rear dums, bearings, shoes, cylinders, brake cables AND install a new exhaust system to get the lamp to go off. :p:-laf

My 1990 had a bad master cylinder and the lamp never came on.

If it is the Anti-Lock light it is probably a bad connection or a problem caused from your recent detonation. :) That light is for the anti-lock brakes and usually means something is not reading correctly off the sensor.

The Brake light is usually the one that comes on when the MC\Booster\Brakes are bad or out of adjustment.

I say usually cuz sometimes it the symptoms don't point to the correct cause. ;)

Scott, I DID clean the parts that had to go back on! Sheesh. You'd think I did nothing but goof off that whole weekend... . well, most of it anyway! :-laf

NICK

that was my first thought nick. i removed the pacbrake and the lines that ran to it from the solenoid valve when i put the new turbo on. but i have not removed the solenoid yet, or the tee that is in line. do you think those valves leak a little? guess i could just loop a pc of hose and find out...

Brake light...

It happened to me the same way, I checked the front brake pads, they were down to less than 25%. Replaced the pads, light stayed off. Just my $. 02

frt brakes are brand new

its just the pac brake solenoid valve trying to keep a little vacuum at the brake (that is not there anymore but for sale rather) when the brake is in the off position

thanks, don
