O5, Prod date 08/04, CTD, auto, 4x4, DRW, reg cab, stock, 6,000 miles. I have been stuck better than a dozen times. If it was not for the 4wd, I would have had a wrecker to get me out. These situations where in loose gravel and wet grass, with one side on pavement. Empty and loaded from 1500 lbs in the bed to 6,500 lbs on flat trailer. I have been to the dealer and says it is working properly, it will not be like posi-trac. They tell me to ride the parking brake. I remember that technique from drivers ed for conventional rear ends. The owners manual does state momentary application of the parking brake may be required. I would like to know how you guys with 6 spds would accomplish this. Does any one have any thoughts or suggestions??

One other thing, how do I get my signature to come up??

I don't have a manual but you can apply light parking brake (first click) then you release as you get moving/release clutch.

For signature go to top discussion forum drop down go to user control and then edit signature add what you want and turn on signature. It only appears once in each post you respond to.

It's funny how some of these limited slips work really well and some don't. I've only had to use the park brake one time to get both rear tires to spin. I was high centered and the suspension was really crossed up. I put it in 4 low and reverse, held the park brake release, and started pushing in on the park brake with my left foot after letting out on the clutch. It worked and saved me a long walk! The only time I find the diff doesn't drive both wheels at least some what is when I have loaded one side and the other tire is almost off the ground. In that circumstance I don't even expect it to work since only a locker can help you there. I've 4wheeled alot in the mountains of Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho with a bunch of different vehicles running from totally open on both ends to fully locked and I can honestly say the limited slip in the rear of my 03 SRW 2500 4X4 QC is one of the best limited slips I've come across.

When in doubt, add a winch.

I have found that with all the toque that CTD generates that it is vary easy to break the wheels loose. Wet grass and an uphill start will require a vary light touch on the throttle. It seems that the limited slip does work but it takes a few seconds to energize the wheel with the worst traction.

I have 4. 5 and mine did not work either . Took to dealer , they ordered new unit , installed it and it is more positive than any posi that I have had before. The mechanic asked service manager why he was changing it out and the service manager explained. Mechanic diagnosed and could not figure out why it would not engage so he put the new one in . Now it works great.
