Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Anti-theft engine disabling options?????

I live in an area that I can still leave my truck unlocked overnight. I'll be making a trip to SoCal on the 28th. I have little faith in the after market alarm systems. With the high occurance of theft there I'm looking for ideas on making my truck non-operational. I'll start with the fuel line shut-off valve, I'm just curious if any of you have any other systems you use. My truck will be parked on the street during my visit and I don't want to worry about getting home. Any ideas or thoughts???????? Merry Christmas, Mike

I put a switch to cut the power to the starter on mine. There is a switch where the clutch would be on a manual that has a jumper in it for the auto, just splice into it with a toggle switch that you can hide. Some have wired it to the cigerett lighter if you don't use it. Then you just push the lighter in to start the truck & you can take the lighter with you when you leave the truck.

Glad it worked out for you. Did you go with the lighter or another remote switch?

GFrance, I'm just going to remove the jumper plug, bury the end in the harness and hope for the best. Mike
