I just bought some NAPA heavy duty coolant. The price was good and it say's low silicate formula. The question is that they recommend that you use it in conjunction with a supplementive coolant additave (SCA). What is SCA and do I have to get it. I'm changing at normal drain intervals and not looking to get a lot of miles/years. As always, thanks for the help...

The SCA is additional additives. You should use the SCA that goes with the antifreeze so the additives are the same and use their test strips. For what it's worth, every time I go to Cummins to buy antifreeze, they talk me out of the high SCA stuff and sell me the plain low silicate. I'm just going to use the low sil. stuff and change every three years or less. Craig

No SCA for me

Them PSD's need the SCA to keep Cavitation in check but our Killer "B's" just need a change out with the low silicate every so often. I'm on an unlimited mileage/3 year change out plan.
