I am getting a small puddle of antifreeze every now and again on my garage floor. I went and checked it out today and it looks like its coming from the exhaust side of the head from either the pipe plugs or the bolts themselves or both. I checked my block heater and it was a little loose but nothing that was causing a leak. It is seeping out of the top and running down the block and in the back running down the transmission bellhousing and dripping off. This is happening in two places... right above the block heater and in the very back. I only have 3700 miles on my truck... . So I wasn't expecting anything like this yet.

Anyone else having this problem??? And if so was it the bolts or pipe plugs? It looks as if its possible for the pipe plugs to leak and blow back on the bolts behind them and make it look like they both leak.

I also noticed that there is a hint of oil residue where the aluminum meets the cast head. Is this common??? I will try and attach a few pictures

Thanks in advance :)

I had the same problem with mine... The plugs that use the 3/8 drive (like the oil plug) were very loose on mine I could turn them by hand :--) They took around three full turns to tighten. I would check these first before anything. Hope this helps.

That's what it looks like from the pictures.

Mine looks just like that - havent had any noticable fluid loss or any on the ground. I'm going to try to tighten those plugs also.....

Oo. Mine too My pipe plugs were loose... Took it to dealer and they pulled them out and put pipe sealant on them no more problem... ..... ;)

jlB, try tightening them down real good, go to car wash, clean engine up real good. Check for coolant in your oil, or in oil fill cap underside. Check for oil in your coolant. After tightening, then carwash, get it to operating temp and get out and check for leaks.

Thanks

Thanks for all the replies... I will pull the plugs out tomorrow and reseal them and tighten them up. Hopefully that will take care of it.

I will clean it up and run it for the next day or so and see what happens.

It didn't look too serious but I just didn't expect something like that so soon.

Been a great truck otherwise and it pulls anything I need it too. Oo.

While you are there check the block heater just below the plugs near the oil filter. Mine and several others were only hand tight. I have never had a leak from the plugs, but the block heater was another story! Check it out.
