I was in the middle of changing my coolant today when I got an emergency call and had to go. I didn't get a chance to flush the system, just drain the radiator and then I refilled it with new and went on my way. The trouble here is, I had ethylene glycol in it and I refilled it with propylene glycol. Will the two mix alright? I really don't want to drain the new stuff I just put in but I am worried now about the two different types.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Propylene glycol (PG) is compatible with ethylene glycol based (EG) antifreeze. If they are accidentally mixed, no damage to the cooling system will occur. However, due to the toxicity of the EG antifreeze, mixing antifreeze will eliminate the safety advantages of PG antifreeze. Mixing the two types of antifreezes completely negates any extended life characteristics. You should change it again sooner.

Not sure if they have gone through the ASTM routine, but Evans Cooling makes full usage of propylene glycol technology

How long did it take ASTM to add a classification for extended life coolant?
