I hate to bear bad news but when I had my old 92 4x4 Auto those light were on for like 6 months. To fix it I finally had to put a new power booster on it for $125 from NAPA. This not only fixed my brakes but shut those annoying lights off. bought my 99 and within a week both came on I was ticked but found a wire that was rubbed in two, fixed it and they have been off since. just my experience. Dshawhan

Also the little thingy on the fender well by the hood hinge will get water in it and make the lights come on . Take it off the fender and pull the mounting bracket off the pod (there is four tiny bolts that hold the bracket on the pod)and if you have cracks in the back of the pod put some silicone over (and in ) the cracks . That was my light problem .

Like dshawhan, the booster was bad in my 93. Had both the ABS as well as brake light on. I replaced the booster along with a rebuilt master cylinder, lights went out and all was working well. About a year later the master cylinder went out again. Replaced it with a new (not rebuilt) one from NAPA. That took care of the problem.

I have the light problem too! Those lights have been coming and going together for years, always during application and using vacuumespecially in the very cold. I see no other problem with the brake system.

I am suspecting either the pump is weak (very expensive) or my booster is seeping a bit. I want to splice in a vac. gauge to diagnose, but you know how it is- the Mechanic's car is always the last to get fixed.

From what I know that switch on the L/H fender support is to let us know that there is a vacuum problem. Think about it, if it were a gasser, it wouldn't run properly with a vac. leak and would draw attention that way. I know Fords have a bad rap with their vac. pumps and boosters, but I don't think they have a warning system like this .

My lights stayed on for about 2 years. I finally started trouble shooting the problem and found the wiring harness grounded and burned behind the glove box, the sensor connector was bad at the rear axle, the next connector next to the frame rail was bad, and finally the wire leaving the wiring harness at the frame going to the sensor had corroded into in multiple places. I made all the repairs mentioned above and now after 2 years the lights no longer come on.
