Antique brakes

[Rattler]

A guy i know is working on a 36 plymouth for his aunt. I talked to him today and he said he could not find brake parts for this car. What he needs most a wheel cylinders, but he said the parts stores around here do not list anything that old. What i need to know is who stocks brake parts for this car? Any and all help is appreciated.

There is a company in New Jersey that has a lot of suspension and brake parts for older cars. They are Kanter Auto Products. They have a toll free number and it is 1-800-526-1096. They also have a web site at www.kanter.com.

They are always advertising in Hemmings Motor News and seem to have a large coverage of parts for restorations.

I checked my books today just in case he's just running into a case of "lazy parts man". Unfortuatly they don't list complete cylinders for that old a car anymore. Are they too rusted out to kit? If not the kit#'s from NAPA are #6 for the front and #7 for the back. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I used the following numbers as replacements on a '34 Plymouth for a fellow last year. They worked out real good. Should also fit '36.
NAPA numbers.


United 3595 left rear 1 1/8 X 1 1/4
3596 right rear "
6353 left front "
6354 right front "

Check Hemmings. There is several places that machine and stainless steel sleeve your wheel cylinders. The cups are usually standard size. If you can't find an address for the sleever, E-mail me and I will look one up for him. Chris
