Thanks, TDR Staff

I don't think we could do this in our big trucks

142 MPH Chevy Cruze?

They added DEF fluid in 2013 and also dropped the warrenty to 2 yr's 24,000 miles yeah there all the same motor passat is just a Fancy jetta .

We did get the '14 Passat SE TDI. So far so good. We ended up paying about $1,0000 less than the Costco price by contacting several dealers and asking the local dealer to match the low price from Niello in Sacramento. They did and it was actually a good buying experience.

The Jettas still don't have the fluid. I like the dsg transmission. It makes very smooth, positive shifts. This is not a small car but handles very competently. The inside is huge and the mileage makes me smile.

Well 5 day's Shy of a Month to get our Jetta sport Wagen back they replaced the whole fuel system Service writer tried to tell me that we have to use Shell Fuel because it's Better N then I explained to her there was no Difference in Diesel fuel . as for the Cost she Claimed it was a $6000.00 fix they replaced fuel injection pump all 4 injector's and lines cleaned whole fuel system out .I wanted to Talk to 1 of the Mechanic's but she claimed they were gone I say BS they just don't want to put there name on anything . But While we were there picking up the car there was another gentelman that has a Passat that they think took out the fuel system and his is a newer then 12 Car .I think we need to Ban together and start a class action suit against VW because there Problem isn't Fixed like they Claim it's just gotten worse . . I will be writing a Long Letter to VW this week to try and get a answer as to what type of additive we can use but I want it in writing so when something ever happen's I have Proof it was ok Per VW . So we will see how it goes .

I am going to call my service rep in Sunnyvale and ask her if there is a VW approved Diesel Lube for the HPFP system. I bought my 2013 HOPING that the HPFP problem had been fixed, but KNOWING that it well might not be. Realizing that the problem may have to do with different lubricity standards betwenn Euro and US diesel REALLY makes me want to run a lube. Of course, I DO keep TDR-S in my farm tank, so must of the diesel that goes through the JSW and my CTD is lubed with their formula, but I want to know more facts as well. Please do keep this updated as you learn more, as will I. Do you think there is a chance you could go back sometime and talk with the mechanic?? I would love to SEE what they found at the pump and past the pump!!

For some reason the Mechanic didn't want to talk to me service writer claimed they were gone but I know better I believe they don't want there name on anything saying we can use a additive . as for the problem Yeah this is why we bought a 2012 we were under the understanding the problem was well fixed and there was no more problem . From what I gather they got the car into dealer and pulled the cover off the fuel filter and saw metal shaving's and that's when they knew what was wrong funny thing about this whole ordeal is the car was Just in for it's 30,000 mile service less then 2 week's before the fuel system crashed .I will see if I can upload the list of all that they replaced so everyone can take a Look.

 Wow, $10,000 that's something.

I assume you had a typo and meant $1.000. Really that's an excellent price. Recently the demand has cooled off a bit and inventories have built up. Additionally, I don't think the Costco fixed pricing reacts very well to the increasing inventories as dealers slash prices on plentiful models.
---
That being said, the Costco price we got back in February this year was better than any of our nearby dealers. At the time the demand was high for the Passat and my closest dealer had few to select from and was holding near MSRP trying to milk it for everything it was worth. You know how some of those dealers are!!! As I mentioned the Costco program sent us a little further away but I thought it was well worth it and was stunned by courtesy of the entire staff at Gunther VW.
---
I wonder what criteria the Costco program requires? Must be more than just fixed pricing?

Amink,--You mentioned the Jettas still don't use the DEF but Simplysmn indicates they do. Did we determine it was a California spec vehicle that required the DEF? Just wondering.
---
Still I am surprised by our Passat TDi. Just filled up yesterday and with the wife's mixed driving I hand calculated the MPG at 39. Simply amazing.

Yes the JSW has DEF and I'm sure the jetta does also

We own the Jetta and it does not use DEF. Per the VW site the only vehicles that uses DEF are the Touareg TDI and the Passat TDI since they are heavier and it is easier to eliminate the NOx by using the DEF to meet the emission rules from the EPA on them.

It's my understanding that as of 2013 I know for sure the Jetta wagen has the DEF but I do not know anyone with a Jetta sedan to find out if they have def

Oops! I wish it was $10K! Yes, $1K.

From what I've found on the internet, and from what I was told at the dealer, the 2014 Jettas and JSW's DO NOT have DEF, just a DPF.

We've got a 2012 Sportwagen TDI with the 6 speed. Bought it new, loaded with all possible options. I've got 54K miles on the car now and it's due for service. The first three services were included in the purchase of the vehicle, tho they tell you they're free to lure you in thinking you're getting a great deal. Then, the fourth service comes around that you have to pay for. Yup, bend over and take it dry. All in all, this car has been great. We haven't had one problem with it till last week. Got an error message that the passenger side air bag seat sensor malfunctioned. My car has only been filled with diesel that has passed thru two different filters on my trucks bulk tank. Every tank has been treated with Power Service as I run PS all year round in the truck and car. It's my wifes car, but I do use it alot for work as it gets better mileage than the truck. When I use it, I drive between 1000-1500 miles a week, mostly highway miles. I've never seen mid to high 40's for mileage with this car. My best is 42 mpg and my average is around 36. I drive 72-80 mph on the highway, probably my mileage downfall.

I have a buddy with a 2013 JSW and it has a DEF tank in the back that you have to fill and I will start running PS in the Jetta I fill it seperatly because I use filtered waste oil in my crewcab .

My wife and I just bought a 2014 Jetta Sportwagen w/ DSG a couple of weeks ago. It replaces a 2004 Dodge Neon. We only have 600 miles on the JSW, but so far so good.
