Just wondering how many 24V's there are with over 100K miles on them (Any problems, cracked blocks, headgaskets, valves, etc)? I'm planning on keeping this truck a long time. I hope to see some big numbers out there.

good so far

I have a 99 with 143,000 miles on it and it does have a #53 block, truck has been ran pretty hard (lots of towing with and without fuel box) but taken care of maintence wise. Only problems have been a couple of sensors and a lift pump and tons of front brake problems. Hopefully never a cracked block:eek:

212000 and going strong. Had a couple of problems. Thermostat failed and took the head gasket with it and one lift pump. I'm hoping for 500k before any major repair :) It has always been properly maintained.

114k on my 2001. One lift pump, some rear axle seals, rear driveshaft seal on transmission and now ready for a rear diff seal. Happy camper here.



Since there were a few "high mileage" injector pump failures reported (out in the 250k plus range, I think), I now regularly use fuel treatment. I believe two of the best are Stanadyne's "Performance Formula" and "Lubricity Formula". All brands claim lubricity improvements, but if you go to Stanadyne.com you'll find proof of the claim in the form of independent lab tests.



If you go to Diesel Injection Service (find on the links page), they are running a Christmas special right now that is good for about 10% off of an already good price. You can get the price of Performance Formula down to about $0. 08 per gallon treated, or Lubricity Formula down to $0. 035 per gallon treated. I plan to use the Performance Formula in colder weather, then which I use in summer will depend on whether or not I can see a fuel mileage savings that justifies the extra cost of PF over the LF.
 
115K on a 99 here. Zero engine troubles aside from a slight seep of coolant in the headgasket that has been temporarily patched.



The Dodge part will challenge you to make 500K unless they are all smooth highway miles IMO.
 
108k with the usual stuff...

1 lift pump, 1 crank sensor, front brakes, and it needs a trackbar.

105,000 on my '01 ETH... Been at 350+ HP since about 22,000. No problems except a leaking pinion seal, which I fixed. Needed a new yoke. Other than that, no problems at all. Runs great, the trans works awesome, and rides just like the day I bought it. Plus, it never gives me less than 20 mpg. :D
 
193,000 on 98. 5 with no engine problems. Runs and pulls as good as ever- add 1 qt. of oil between changes. Only problems were ECM and fuel pump. I think I killed the pump from not changing the filter often enough. . Wouldn't run it without a fuel pressure gauge again.

Which fuel pump? :confused: Injection pump or lift pump?
 
doh! Stupidest stunt of the weekend!...

... was me trying to change the thermostat and flush the coolant system! D-oh!:mad: Why did I let the Cummins guy give me a thermostat package for a 12v'er:D Drained out everything, flushed everything, ran Fleetguard Restore (very good stuff; gets all the old gumbo out!) and THEN opened the thermostat package only to find out wrong part!!! D-OH!! Makes Homer Simpson look like Einstein. Well, we're high and dry until Monday evening unti I can pick up the right t-stat package. Just for everybody (who are as dumb as I are) the thermostat on a 24v is different than the 12ver. And check your part before you tear em down... . I knew that:eek:



And oh yes, my 98. 5 has 115782 miles. Original transmisson, VP44 was replaced once by original owner during warranty period, and I had to put a fuel transfer pump on it about 5K ago.

Sorry I didn't explain which pump. It was the lift pump- so far the VP44 has been fine. The original lift pump ran about 150,000 miles before it died. I had stopped by a friends and when I started the truck to leave the fuel pressure gauge slowly went back to 0. I was close to home and eased on and replaced it.

117,000 and going strong. Lift pump and crank position sensor changed. Just now replacing the original brakes!!. Replaced original shocks recently.
 
150k miles

I bought mine with 85k on it and in little over a year I've put over 70k on it and I've had one lift pump (seems like a common occurance) and it took out my VP44. I have in the neighborhood of 150k on it now and I will not buy another diesel out on the market... :D
 
My 2002 currently has 101700 and has been an excellent truck. Replaced lift pump and then later (89k) had timing problem with injection pump which was replaced. Replaced ABS rear sensor on this truck and the 99 5 speed that I put 211000 miles on. On the 99 lift pump went out at about 150000 but injection pump never did. The 5 speed and clutch went to pieces at 150000 plus. I like the 6 speed better. My first Dodge was a 95 which I put 186000 on. Had auto xmission replaced on that. Do hot shot work and pull heavy loads but I baby the trucks and take care of them. Would not have anything else.
 
138k miles,



I'm on my 2nd lift pump,

2nd transmission,

2nd main engine seal,

2nd harmonic balancer,

3rd rear pinion seal,

5th clutch,

I've done the headlight switch fix plus a new switch, and my fuel sender is bad.
