Just looking to make contact with any other 2nd Gen. 12V TDR members in SouthCentral Alaska. Lots of 24V members, and some 1st Gen. guys... ... . but have not seen much in the way of members running 94-98. 4 trucks. It's amazing how many guys I talk to that have never heard of this great resource we all have access to here on TDR. Anybody out there?

There's a few, the NW kdp jig has been to Anchorage several times, in fact it should be there soon. Contact SnoDawg if you haven't fixed yours and want to get in on the fun.

The jig will be shipped to ANC 3/13

Thanks for the response, but the jig will not be here until after 3/13. SnoDawg is a buddy of mine, and the word is that it ships this way next Thursday. That is part of the reason for this post, putting the word out in case anybody wants to make quick use of the jig before we send it on down the list. The other reason is I still have yet to hear from anyone in my area that "knows the power of the P7100". ;)

Alaskagrizz, boy howdy theres alot of TDR members here in Alasksa's banana belt, just not all of us puter liderate. I think maybe 12 valvers have a natural distrust of computers anyway. I believe Im on the jig list also , Dave

Grizz,

You are not alone!

I am running a 94 2500. It took me a while to find the right 12 valve. Pre cat version too! I mainly will haul lumber and construction equip. I am looking forward to getting the KDP solved soon. Any word on a KDP party in Anch. ?

Grizz, another properly valved AK member here. My '96 does the commute between the Valley and Anc. About the jig do you all get together and kill dowel pins or do I have to try and get on a list to use it and then tackle the project solo? Thanks!

KDP Jig In Anc

I have gotten word that The jig will be shipped from Canada on the 12th of March I guess that is tomorrow. If anybody wants to get ahold of me so we can set up a party sounds like a good Idea the only problem is we need a place to do the work. The place I am planning on using is really limited for bringing in outside work. I will post when I have the jig here in town.

Waiting for word on how long it stays in Alaska...

I just sent "illflem" an email to find out how long we might have use of the jig in Alaska. To the guys who posted replies to this thread, you should have all been PM'ed by me... . and I will let you know both here, and individually when I have more info to pass on. Like SnoDawg said, a party would be great if anyone has access to a suitable shop. SnoDawg and I work together, but do not have a shop big enough for all. We plan to "kill" ours this weekend. I look forward to meeting some other 2nd Gen. owners, and hopefully some new friends... .....

I rather if you guys in Anchorage pass it on then sort of fast till you can work out a time and place for a party rather than hold onto it. The jig needs to go to four other locations in Alaska and will probably be there for a month so it can come back to Anchorage whenever you're ready.

illflem, There is not a problem passing it on to somebody else. I kinda started this whole deal off my cuff figuring it would take more time for a Jig to get headed this direction so I was unable to start any steps for any kind of KDP party. Since I am pretty new with the TDR and a relatively new Cummins owner I am lacking a lot of local connections. If needed I can send the jig on to the next on the list and then get it back here so a party can be set up.

Fish On I do not go on snowest I barely have enough time to get through The TDR site Lotts of new info posted every day.

I bought one of those tab's from Piers . . I was going to try it on my 94 but havent had time to install it . . I should really fix it right with the KDP jig and feel more secure about the repair I also have my 96 thats been lucky enough to not fall out during my many 4000 RPM passes... . Nice to hear from more local 12 valvers...
Take care!!!!!!

SnoDawg,

I'm here in Fairbanks and I believe I am next or maybe one down from you to receive the jig. I have two kdp's to kill here on other guys rigs. This is the second time for the jig to come here. If there another guys here in Fairbanks that need their kdp killed, PM me. They are real easy. A friend and I did 5 in one day with lots and lots of time left over.

Two more KDP's properly buried!

Many, many kudos to CPFF for his excellent engineering and precision toolmaking in the KDP jig kit... ... two more Alaska 12 valves were "slain" last night. SnoDawg and I banged ours out in 2 hours... ..... awesome tooling!!! Were just sorry we could not organize a "party" to kill more 12 valves while here, sounds like "WDaniels" is waiting. On down the list she goes... ... "kill them pins before they kill your beloved CTD"!!!!!!:D :D Oo. Oo. Oo.

We killed em

Yep those dowel pins are not going anywhere. And the job was easy done two of em in a couple of hours. That tool made things easy it is a beauty, I have seen aircraft tooling that wasn't built as nice.

moving to Fairbanks

My wife and I are moving to Fairbanks in July. I assume the kdp on my 96 has not been fixed. Any way to visually check it to see? I am really starting to panic about this thing. Just one more thing to add to the list. Tires, ball joints, kdp, etc, etc.

TGains,

There is not a way to really see the pin short of pulling off the gear case cover. If you have access to an olympus 4mm borescope you can easily see it. The KDP is the first and most important thing to do. I delayed and mine spit out through the top and made a 3" hole in the top gear case cover to boot. DO NOT DELAY! Kill it right away. If you cannot get the jig quickly, pull the cover and check it. There are instructions on this forum at the top about the kdp and what to do about it.

When you are leaving PM me and let me know and I'll try to meet you on your way in. Are you Military? Airforce? Army?

My wife is a flight surgeon in the Air Force. We are going to be at Eilsen for 3 years. Looking forward to the move. We are at Cannon right now in New Mexico. Not much around here.
