Just wondering if there are any canucks out there who either have or have priced out an ATS or DTT tourque converter and valve body? I'm tossing the idea around. I know that I wan't to bomb (just a little);) and this and guages would have to be my first move.

Thanks

Oakley-get hold of TDR member Balzac through PM-he has a DTT setup-I'm sure you could make arrangements to meet up with him and go for a ride with him to see what Bill's stuff is all about. Ain't no secret which way I would go if I had an automatic-go west young man! :D

Gather a list of questions about transmission and TC's that you want answered. Then, get on the phone with Bill K from DTT and either Clint or Don from ATS and see how each answers. ATS has prices on their website, not sure about DTT. I honestly believe that both companies offer a quality product and stand behind what they sell, so i'd consider that a none issue. Talk to both, go with your gut feeling and don't look back, i'm sure you'll be happy. :)

Feel free to PM me if i can answer any specific questions. .

I had the ATS converter and valve body installed by Bellflower Transmission in Bellflower CA 2 months ago. What a change I would do it allover again and highly recomend it to any and all especially those that are pulling a trailer. :D

96 Dodge Dully Ext. Cab CA non EGR, BD #8 230 HP pump kit, Dawes boost controller, K&N air filter, Jannetty 4" turbo back exhaust, ATS valve body, converter and TorqLok controller, Bellflower Transmission Trans, Diesel Dynamics pyrometer-boost pressure and trans. temp. gauges, B&M 28,000 LB trans. cooler. Used for daily driver at 7,300 lb. and 5th wheel pulling an 11,200 lb. Trailer.

The Folks at ATS are good friends of mine. I spent last weekend (truck fest in denver) with Clint and Renee.

Their TC and trannies are first rate for all trucks. . Ford Dodge and Chevy. I spent some time in their Dmax with the tripple lock. rode like a factory truck from the passenger seat and clocked 13. 6s at the track... a crewcab longbed 4x4 with mudders on.

Don Ramers grey beast is equally impressive. Their shift-at-lockup capability is very cool. One of their employees, Mike, is running 12. 8s in a street driven 24v. There's a fella, John non-employee type, that tows to the tune of 40k per year in the mountains hauling a 30ft gooseneck full of furniture, all without problems. Their transmission's stay locked so they have no heat issues. they keep a decently high stall speed(still lower than stock) and have great fluid coupling to get the truck moving. Their TC is engineered from the ground up to take abuse and last a very long time.

I am truely impressed with their trannies. . enough that I'd go shiftless in a NY minute.

I'll sit back and wait for the 'but your're biased and you don't count' comments.

yes, they help me out on parts. yes, we trade technical info. yes, i do belive in their products.

They are still good people with excellent products

Mark, I agree. I was blown away by the ATS operation, and I've been raving about it on this site ever since. Theirs is an OUTSTANDING company with great engineering, manufacturing and installation expertise. I'd do it again anytime.

I have a DTT auto... ... . It is pricy for the full upgrade. Anything else you want to know? If memory serves me right you will be looking at over $2000 for the TC & VB. Plus our lovely GST..... Depending on age/condition/intended HP upgrade kits will run you more. Then installation. I am well into $4500 for mine. Maybe more, I am numb now. I hope to be in the Edmonton area in the near future if you want more info.

Yup, I went DTT as well. Of course I do NOT have a lockup system so its all about fluid coupling for me, and what a difference. .

Swamp Donkey is in the ball park for $$ numbers.

Is that Canadian $ or US? I have $5881 USD in mine, but $1426 of that was shipping, air to Hawaii and surface core back, plus 2 controllers at $295 each.

You could have a lock-up system. IT is my understanding that ATS has an external controller available for the lockup. . I'm considering a manual VB swap into my truck.

Call Clint he could tell you more.

My numbers were in Canadian funds. The hack shop that I got it installed at charged me $1300 dollars for installation. He was pouty because I brought ALL the parts. He said he never made a cent on part so he bent me over the barrel on labour. $ 220 for Amsiol ect... ... ... ... .

:{ OUCH Swamp, that had to hurt, man talk about "Pin the tail on the donkey"

dan

If I ever get up that way we'll wrap the hack shop in toilet paper, it's the least we can do. What can I say?! They won't let me bring guns across the border to Canada.

thanks for the replies guys,

WOW, those things don't come cheap

I might have to keep saving for a while if it's gonna cost me 4500. 00 plus ! I might be better off trading my truck or selling it and finding a 5 speed !! :)

thanks again. .
