That's a 150 qt cooler that I made into a humidor. It's 100% lined with spanish cedar. I have approximately 300 cigars on hand in my private stock . My favorite cigars are Padron Anniversario Maduro Diplomatico's. Unforetunately they are too expensive and difficult to find so I don't smoke them regularly. My daily smokes are either Padron 3000 maduro's or JR alternative to the cuban cohiba. I also have a singles drawer that I keep stocked with all sorts of different cigars that I get through trades, etc that I smoke from regularly.

I seldom sit down and smoke one, but while I'm working on the truck I fire one up sometimes. Don't smoke more then a couple/three a week so I like to stick with the gooduns. Fuente Don Carlos is a fave.

I also love a good cigar. My favorites include Arturo Fuente, Cohibas and Romeo & Juliet is my #1 fav.



My biggest problem is that in my area it is either freezing or boiling, and I just can not keep my small humidor anywhere close to the right temp/humidity :{ I have to buy in small quantities, as they only last about 3 - 5 days in my humidor before they get waaaay too dried out and the wrapper starts to split.



What I wish I could do, is build something large enough that I could find a small sized heating unit, a cooling unit and a decent humidifier and place all 3 inside the thing to maintain the right conditions year around. I would seriously consider doing what Steve did with an Igloo, but I just don't think I could keep it at the right temp/hunidity without a heater/cooler/humidifier inside, and I just don't know anywhere to find such units that would be small enough to put inside something as "small" as even a 150qt Igloo. Oh well... .

Quickie

For a quickie I like Toscanelli. They come in a five pack the size of a deck of cards. Don't worry if you have to put it out halfway cause they are only $3. 49 a box. They are not crazy sweet like some brands.

I always keep some Macanudo's around for newbies - very mild. They're good but you outgrow em fast.

I'll second what Steve said. Mac's are a very nice, mellow cigar, good flavor without being overpowering.

Newbies, first.....

Ok... ... . now my belly is full. Before I did this post I did a search for cigar and nothing came up. I may have opened a can of worms with this thread. Steve..... My god man... How you gonna smoke all those in this lifetime??? Well maybe this cigar newbie will understand after I start this hobby.



Ok guys tell me how I did..... I stopped by the cigar shop and picked up:

How is that for a newbies description..... I bought all 3, which one should I try first... . Which one should I stay away from? I was hoping for ones that were mild, and give me a feel for what cigars are about. Then move on to bigger and better, more exotic smokes. So any guidance you "Old Timers" can give is great. I will be writing down all these "First Smokes" you guys suggest so I can try them as timie goes on. Another question I do have is since I am just starting this hobby, at what point do I invest in a humidor? I am only buying 3-4 at a time to try and find ones that I like before purchasing an entire box. Thanks gentleman.

I just smoke a Cuban Cohiba yesterday. It was good, but my favorite is the San Cristobal Cuban. I have some Cuban Monte Cristo's I havent smoked yet. These are the big ones that say Limitado Especial 2001 on them. I was told they are filled in with three types of tobacco and change flavor throughout the smoke.

It is said that most of the Cubans we get are counterfeit. As in not actually from Cuba. Most likely they are Dominicans that have been relabeled.

Since the States have put the embargo on Cuba the price of the cigars went up and it's difficult to get them original ones.

Right?



Well, one country has NEVER stopped their relationship with Cuba, that's Spain.



I know about several guys here in Italy that buy their cigars over there at MUCH lower prices than in the rest of the world.

I've been told that the cigars in Spain cost less than they do even in Cuba!

Go figure...



Maybe it's true?
