Thank You Sam.........

Excellent point you you bought up there. The most successful racer to ever run at Daytona finally wins the 500 after owning the 125's (and leading the race one year on the last lap only to cut down a tire) and suddenly... "The FIX is on!!"

Gentlemen. The average sportswriter is a "stick and ball" sports aficionado that absolutely ABHORS auto racing and doesn't have a clue what "stagger" or "blower overdrive" would even be referring to. How many of your friends are big baseball, football, or basketball fans verses auto racing fans? Why then are the results from Sunday's action always posted on section D page 22?

I think that Tony was forced below the line to a certain extent. He was trying to pass and went over the line to prevent a wreck which I think should've been overlooked in that case. Remember when Ernie Irvin went down on the apron to try to pass Dale Sr. ? He lost control and caused one of the worst wrecks which put Dale in the Hospital. If the drivers try to pass by driving on the apron then that's when Nascar needs to black flag someone, not when they're preventing an accident. Tony should've been commended for good defensive driving.

What bothers me is that Bobby Labonte went across the yellow line and they said nothing about it.

Go Little E Go!!

Red, I wasn't really making any comparisons or conclusions. I just wanted to point out to others that "The Call" isn't anything new and has been around for awhile. The whole idea of something like this actually being possible is ridiculous IMHO. The press probably created it to give them something to write about and sell some papers and magazines.

Sorry RAM 4SAM, that is the problem with the internet sometimes, you dont "understand" what people are trying to say because there is no personal expression when you type online:)

After reading your post again and the reply by TOP FUEL I misunderstood what you were trying to say. :)

Didn't Jeff Burton win the pole and lead every lap a while back? Just cruised around on rails. How about the race (last year I think) where DJ did almost the same thing at MIS? Both races were big snoozers. Yawn. I guess the fix was on both of those times too.  All NASCAR needs is fixed races and all the excitement that means. Junior just had the best car and the best team at the right time. Do you think that maybe they were a bit motivated?

Ever been to a go-kart track where the kid running the joint has one of those remote-control spark arrestors? He pushes a button and your motor turns to mush... . a friend of mine suggested (jokingly) that Mr. France has one of those devices, and stands on top of the big grandstands and determines the winner!! ;) You all are STILL calling this a race!! It's not, it's just entertainment, just like WWF. If you were making a Cup driver's salary, and would be guarateed to not never get fired, wouldn't you let the other guy win, if you were instructed to? The squeeky wheel gets replaced in that arena.

Sounds like Tony is getting a little of what everybody else has got.

Let me know when they let these guys start racing again. I have missed REAL Stock Car racing for years. :(

Something for the grassy knoll people!

Here is some more about "The Call" in case you have some extra time this weekend:D

2001 PEPSI 400- You already have that one figured out.

1998 Daytona 500- Won by Dale sr. 1998 was celebrated as the 50th year of Nascar. What better way to start the celebration than to have the man in black win his 1st Daytona 500.

The first Brickyard 400(1994 I think) Won by Jeff Gordon, a hometown boy. Who better to win the first race there than someone who grew up just miles from the track. (You do know that he was really born in California don't you?)

1984 Firecracker 400 at Daytona-The race was actually held on the 4th of July. Won by Richard Petty, the King! Who better to win such a patriotic race! This was the King's 200th and final win, and the President of the United States was there to witness it.

So you see, this goes much deeper than you all thought!!!

You guys have got to be kidding me. Those guys get paid more money the higher they finish. You can't tell me that they are content with their salary and would go along with a scam like some of you are suggesting. Our senators and represenatives are richer than snot as well, but they don't seem to be content with the amount of money they have, they want more and scam to get more! Pro baseball players aren't too content with their salaries, ARod felt he needed a quarter billion to be able to play a game, and all the other stars will likely be demanding money more equal to that soon in the future. Robin Miller is an open-wheel fan and I think he despises NASCAR for the fan base and corporate sponsorship it has, and since IRL and CART can't seem to bring in the masses, why not try some negative campaigning for the competition?

Phoney Tears of Victory.........

I know now why Waltrip was crying his eyes out on the cool down lap after winning the Daytona 500. He had forgotten that this was his year for "The Fix". I wonder who had the misfortune to inform Dale Sr. what his role in the day's race was going to be????

If you think it's rigged ... ..... Please do yourself (and me) a favor and stop watching. Find yourself a safer sport to demean.

Gentlemen, I am more than finished here. :(
