Hello all,

Of the members that have purchased the KORE set-up (whether it be the Pace, Chase or Race set-up), has anyone had any type of "death wobble" issues? I'm comtemplating buying the middle-range kit, but I don't want to run the risk of having any type of "death wobble" issues. It's a lot of money to plunk down and I want to make the right decision: KORE or leave it stock.

Thanks

Ryan

Hi,

I got the Chase system with the billet drop blocks and have about 500 miles on it and no death wobble. I had the alignment set just like Greg recommended.

Mike

I had the chase installed on my 05 and had the DW. Had the camber adjusted at an alignment shop and have not had it again.

I'm installing my DRC race system now. I have allready installed the rear system and have had no problems. The front still need's the right front shock installed, which I'm doing tomorrow(monday) weather permitting. I will let you know the results because I'm taking the truck on a round trip to Sacramento next week from here in L. A. .

I've had the KORE system since it came out as T-REX. I have put thousands of miles and have gone over 100mph many, many times and it drives absolutly perfect.

I haven't gotten my alignment checked yet (had to find a shop with a bigger rack) but haven't had any problems what so ever with the PACE and Billets installed.

I had the front end of the Pace system. I never had any DW, but I only had it on for about 1,000 miles before removing it. I tried real hard to get everything adjusted right, but my truck did not drive well with it on. This system is totally for off-road. If you don't use it for what it is intended for, there's no point in having it IMO. I think in order to obtain off-road prowess, you have to sacrifice some on-road manners. You have to decide, based on what you will be using the truck for... . Many will disagree, but thats my take on it after I spent nearly $5,000 on it.

Proper alingment is crucial with a suspension such as on the Dodge. DW is a recurring condition on few trucks. Stock and suspended. Over the last few months I have had some calls on how to cure the DW. I had DW on my truck when it was brand new. The dealer changed out every part and still no cure. I did the Race system, and a caster adjustment and it was cured. That will work for most trucks. Caster is a huge factor in the front end of our trucks. There are other variables too. Loose ball joints, loose tie rod ends, steering box failures, also we must not forget the infamous track bar. I had a customer with a DW issue last month. He and I talked every day trying to fix his issues. It was kind of like a case study on the front end of the truck for me. He has a Pace system, 37" tires, Billet Drop Blocks, and a Fox Steering Stabilizer. His system was on for a couple of months with no issues. He then installed the Steering Stabilizer and BDB. No issues. Then he installed the 37" goodyears. Still no issues. After a couple of weeks, the truck had a symptom of DW but no DW. We attacked if staight forward. Checked alingment, over and over, only to have it get worse. Caster wouldn't fix it, just lessen it. I had him torque all the bolts hoping for a cure, still none. I spent countless hours on the phone with Kroeker brainstorming a cure. We tried everything. This customer is a smart guy, good mechanic and an engineer. He understands how his suspension works. I had him check again for looseness in the control arms, ball joints, track bar, steering components, to no avail. Still DW... ... ... ... At this point we were starting to get a little frustrated and suspected the steering box might be bad. He did one more check on the steering box and tie rod ends and found the problem. A bad tie rod end, on the pitman arm, top side for steering linkage. This is a tough spot to check and is even harder to measure end play. After replacement, his truck was fine. Not a hint of DW. Caster is adjusted to 4. 5* and the truck rides great. This is the second time I have has someone find a cure in the tie rod end on the pitman arm. If you are experiencing any type of DW please feel free to call us at DRC and we can help. Even if you don't want a suspension System, I can offer advice and a little knowledge.

Enjoy,

Greg

$5000? For a PACE system?? Isn't that about DOUBLE what it really costs?

Are you including the wheels in the cost of your suspension? Maybe that's not quite fair.....

Coolslice had a $600 leveling kit and Weld/Toyo Combo.

Sorry, I should have made that clear. .

$4100 in parts, about $500 more on install, mounting/balancing tires, and alignments.

About $4,600 total. :D

I also want to stress that I am by no means suggesting that KORE/ DRC systems are not first rate, because they are awesome. However, like Boardman said, all trucks are different and respond to things differently and there are many other factors that play a role in DW besides a suspension or lift. I was one of the unlucky ones who has a truck that demands to be stock.

Thanks everyone for the input. I had the death wobble (bad!!) a few weeks ago when my truck had Rancho RS9000s front and rear. The shocks were good when I installed them at 11,500, but were totally shot at 29,000 miles. No matter what setting I used, I'd get the DW any time I hit a nice pothole at speed. I have since replaced the Ranchos with OEMs and the ride is like a buckboard (I know its a truck, but there has to be something out there that'll soften it up a bit and still keep it under control). So I'm looking to smooth out the ride (firm and under control is good by me) and I think the Chase system may be right for me.

Thanks again everyone.

I have had DW tendancies with my truck but not serious. The larger sloppy Goodyear tires don't help.

Recently added the stabilizer drop blocks. I'm reserving judgement but so far I gotta say they have made a big difference. Now when I hit certain bumps at speed (60 or so)I don't feel the shake that tends to start it.

We'll see. No matter how you slice it, certain trucks will have the tendancy no matter what's bolted to them.

I'm considering going with a Kore steering stabilzer when the stock one gets sloppy.
