hey any guys out there who have converted to the p7100 pump?. . i have a p7100 that i want to put in my '89... i know the gear housing has to be changed, possibly the cam gear, oil supply and drain line also needed, along with injector lines and injectors... any experience in that here?

I don't have any experience with the swap, as mine came with everything fitted as per 1996 12 valve motor. I sure do like it though, and the install looks as if it should have been there in the first place.

It might be cheaper to sell your p pump and sell your 1st gen motor and then buy a 94-98 motor.

It would be worth investigating.

mummn i think i'll just save my $ and convert . i got a good deal on a used 8. 3 cummins pump. . its got the 12mm plungers like the 215 hp dodges so it easy to mod... when i do the pump swap i'd like to rebuild the engine ie oversize marine pistons, port head, get a bigger cam etc. . all at the same time, then i need a tighter converter, and shift kit for the 727... if i put the 4000 rpm govner springs in and taller tires i won't need a 4spd transmission ha... hehe

cool how hard is it to install larger plungers in a p7100?. . i'd like to get 13mm's. . maybe you'd have to machine the pump body... ?

oh well later

I thought I read somewhere that the throttle travel was different between the Ve and P7100 pumps does anyone know for sure? I am getting ready to do the conversion now.
