If you read this post-https://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb//Forum20/HTML/000283.html you would know I am getting a new camper. I really don't know anything about maintaining RV's in general. The factory will be loading this for me. I believe I will have the truck fully outfitted for this addition. But I would like to hear any and all helpful advice or information that may assist me in this endeavor. I will be taking this cross country after I pick it up. SO please fill me in on stuff I should know or be prepared to do. The camper is fully loaded with Air,heat, generator etc... . Is there any special tools I should have?

After checking your signature I see that you dont have any aftermarket mirrors. You may need the mirror extenders to see around your camper. Im assuming they will wire everything for you and it comes with jacks. Id equip a toolbox with all the standard tools. Also do a complete check when you pickup the camper to make sure everything works. BTW,we will be staying just north of Salt Lake May 12th and at Panquitch,Ut on May 13th on our way to MM. Pulling a new HR 5er. Hope to get it the 13 or 21 of April

Griff; I'm still pretty new at camping with my 5er, but I know you'll need a water hose for flushing out the holding tank/rinsing toilet. One for your fresh water supply too. Heavy extension cord,(sometimes hookups are on the wrong side). Also, make sure they give you the adapter for the power cord to fit a standard 3 prong outlet. When I go to campgrounds, I've been bringing electric grilles & lights, Why waste my gas? A pressure regulator for the water is a good idea if not on your camper already. Basic tools. Hammer, 4in1 screwdriver, pliers, knife,hatchet, duct tape, clothes line rope. I've been keeping a tarp too. Seems like it always rains at least 1 day and someone always needs it, or to keep the firewood dry. I'm sure there's much more, keep the suggestions cummin guys. You'll need nontoxic antifreeze for the winter months. I can explain this to you if you need, by e mail.

The best advice I can pass on to you is to make sure you have good anchor points for the camper. Don't trust the bed anchors. They wont hold up for extended / high wind runs. I ordered the factory towing mirrors for 216. They should be in this week.

I was told by my contact at S and S that I get a 25 ft powercord. I appreciate your advice. I think of stuff everyday. Does any body else have any suggestion. I thought about buying some astro turf to lay down under the awning. Good idea?

Glad to hear everything worked out on the camper.
If you buy "astro turf" take it to a carpet shop that does edge binding, because it will unravel as the years go by or buy a pre-finished piece. Or you could buy indoor/outdoor carpet. It comes in various shades and you don't have to worry about the edges.
Some "party lights" to attach to the awning comes in handy.
Get a Campers World catalog also, if you don't have one already.

I second the mention of a heavy power cord. Go with 8 gauge if you can find it for a 50 foot cord.
Also about the adapter for RV cord to standard plug be careful here a standard plug is 15amp a RV plug is 30 amp you can easily melt and or start fire.

Get a long sewage dump hose 20-30 feet I find is ideal.

Whenever you are somewhere with hard or unkown water always flush the system to get as much deposits out when you you get back to better water; sinks, toilets, showers all get plugged up with minerals over time.

An extra set of propane tanks is handy or better yet is a large 30 pound tank you plug in when stopped.

A folding army shovel is nice I have found we can build drainage ditches away from camp site on rainy days make a little moat if you will.

Screen porch is needed in some areas, times of the year.
That is all the strange different things we try to take with us.
