My truck is roadwalking like crazy. The shaft has alot of play. Anybody have a cheap solution to these? Is it worth it to replace the shaft? Ive seen a steering box bracket thing that genos sells but it's kinda pricey. Is it worth it or is there another fix?
Thanks.

If the sector shaft in the steering gear has a lot of play, replace the gear. Power Sttering Specialists up near Columbus, OH, do a good job rebuilding them.

The steering stabilizer is always worth adding because it prevents the sector shaft from being shoved around (thus wearing out the bearings). If you still have wander (and 4x4), the track bar may be worn out. And if there's still wander and the tie rod ends and ball joints are solid, you should consider replacing the front suspension bushings.

Before you start throwing parts at it get underneath and find out what's loose, go from there. If the steering shaft has a lot of play as you say...replace it.

I'm going to rebuild my track bar If I ever get caught up with farm work

I hate to break it to you '94, but I've installed the steering gear brace, I've switched to the 3rd gen track bar, I've boxed the control arms and installed urethane bushings - plus all of the basic stuff like ball joints and tie rod ends.
It all helps, but the biggest improvement came with the Redhead steering gear, and that wasn't cheap.

I second the Redhead box. I also changed out the steering shaft. I have a little wander on the truck compared to my new vehicles, but the box made a big difference.

Rebuilt all tie rod ends with the lukes links. Love them. Would have it on the track bar but front end is leveled so required an adjustable track bar, have a very stout 3rd gen bar. Also have a redhead box. Very pleased with the handling

I would do the steering box brace last. Make sure everything else is solid or all the brace will do is is band aid a problem
