Any good merchants to buy towing equipment from?

Well I will have my new truck on June 11th, and I am gearing up so that I will have everything I will need. I have no plans to tow a gooseneck or a 5th wheel any time soon. I usually tow a heavy duty twin axle utility trailer that has weight distributing, U-haul car haulers, and rental equipment trailers with bobcats and similar equipment. Nothing should weigh over 9K loaded, but I would like to buy the beefiest stuff possible, within reason.



I would appreciate suggestions for brands, and merchants for the stuff below.



1) Electric brake controller, for at least 2 axles. (I would like one that would mount in my cab with the least amount of hacking the dash, or the wiring harness)

2) Ball mounts good for at least 10K pounds

3) 2” ball good for at least 8Kpounds

4) 2 5/16” ball good for at least 10K pounds

5) Draw Tite Weight Distributing Hitch Shank



Let me know if there are any other toys I should look into!

If I were buying a new brake control today it would be the BrakeSmart



I like the connection it makes and soon it will have boost and EGT readouts on the monitor.

I am very happy with my Prodigy. But that is just my opinion.

Tekonsha Prodigy for a few months towing my 12k toybox, LOVE IT. I haven't used the BrakeSmart, but it gets rave reviews as well. If you have the pigtail for the factory tow package under-dash plug, the connection is simple for any of the controllers (or you can order a pre-made cable with connectors, at least for the Prodigy).

I bought mine at the Amazon.com auction site, maybe check out Ebay as well.

Well I ordered up a Tekonsha Prodigy. The Brake smart looks awesome, but I don't tow a trailer with electric brakes often enough to spend three times what the Prodigy costs, also the Brake Smart is backordered right now, so if you are in a hurry you are out of luck.

Jordan brake controller. Far better than any I've used. Smooth braking on the trailer loaded or empty. Just my opinion.

I just got a message from draw-tite tonight. I asked them if i could mount there underbed hidding gooseneck hitch with there 5th wheel hitch. they said NO!!!!



Puttman hitch and B&W hitch both make a combo kit that converts there underbed hidding gooseneck hitch into a 5th wheel. so far its about the only way to have both in a 3rd gen dodge. A local dealer here wants around $840. 00 for the puttman installed. that includes the 5th wheel adapter. the problem i have with the puttman is you lose about 5000lbs of capacity over the draw tite gooseneck. I have about a week before my spary in liner is installed so i have some more time to think about it.
