#@$%!!! Deer!!!

To bad it's not a Dodge

I have noticed that we have a lot of members from Texas and a lot from Michigan/Wisconsin. Surely there are some bird hunters here... ...

Once a year, I make a trip to either Price County Wisconsin or the U. P. to hunt grouse. The bird population is approaching a low (8-10 year cycle) and I am thinking about heading south west next year to go quail hunting... ... Sure would like to find a contact... .

I get out once and awhile for blue grouse and willow grouse. There are lots of quail running around here but nobody hunts them probably because it would take a couple dozen to make a meal.

Quail hunting

We used to hunt bobwhites, blue quail and pheasant when I was growing up in NW Oklahoma. Also, my Father and I were hosts at the Grand National Quail hunt in Enid, OK. We ran our dogs while the rich guys shot at pen mostly tame release birds. Got to meet some famous people though Roy Clark, Johnny Rutherford, Lee Majors... Lee Majors was a complete a**hole, but the rest of them were pretty good guys.

Now that I live in Texas, there are so many fire ants that any ground roosting bird does not stand much of a chance. I think they have some quail from Wharton to Kingsville, and some in North Texas. We mostly hunt Mourning Dove, Whitewing (in the Rio Grande Valley) and travel North to do any bird hunting other than dove or waterfowl. Statewide quail and coastal pheasant season is over 2-24.
