I plan on dynoing this weekend... any guesses on what I'll put down?

Personally I'm shooting for a 25% increase over my current 15. 6 rating. :-laf



Actually the whole point is to see where I'm at now so I can tune the future boat engine accordingly. . plus it will be nice to know what I've bnen driving for that past few years.



And another dyno question... with a 5 spd manual, what gear makes the best numbers? 3rd, 4th, or 5th?

I remember that... but I have grown to trust this rusty old beast and she really does need a decent highway run to heat her up good so I'm not letting that bother me. :rolleyes:

I think that you can reasonablly expect to see at least 30 RWHP :-laf. 4th or 5th will usually be real close as far as the numbers go. What kind of a dyno are you running on? Maybe you can get to 35 RWHP with the right dyno.

35 RWHP? That'd be a ~125% increase (calculator is in the other room). I doubt it.



I'm gonna say 17. 9 RWHP. :-laf



Seriously, though, if you peg your 30psi boost gauge, I'd guesstimate around 250RWHP, 650 torque.

What kind of a dyno



I believe it is a mustang dyno... does that make sense? I think that's what it is.

Just can't decide if I'll leave my studded snows on or change them:-laf

I think a sparky dyno run might add some excitement to the event:-laf

Only kidding... chnging tires is on my list for this week.

A Mustang Dyno is a load dyno which can keep HP numbers down and torque numbers slightly higher. On a Mustang you should see boost numbers at about 1500 rpms if they set it up right - then put the pedal to the metal. You should get 2 or 3 runs so you can try both 4th & 5th. I'll say 250/700.

Careful Pete, you'll have to get into prop pitch and a whole new world.

I can see you with one of those long shaft engine exposed jobs they use in some parts of SE Asia. You could even use the 5speed... Cruise the Erie Canal.

I think I can hit 30 hp now... I checked my pump linkage and I was not getting the lever to the gov stop... made about 2 turns to lenghten the shaft between the pivots... . now it hits the stop. May even get to 33 1/3:-laf

That's about what I was thinking as well... maybe a little less T.



I was at 160/400 in stock form w/16cm housing
 
I had a good day. 241/604 the 2 runs in 5th were literally identical.

The run in 4th was the same in HP, but less torque.



Dyno was a Dynojet



Overall I am very pleased with the results.



ps... I did get pretty much full boost on the machine (30 +?) and egt got up there as well.
