It's not a difficult install unless you are doing it alone. Follow the directions closely. Measure precisely and use a small bit to make a pilot hole. Then follow up with a holesaw. Once the whole assembly is in place and the bolts are tight, drill the safety chain holes from the bottom up, using the hitch as a template. If you are doing it alone, put a 2x4 across the bed rails and use a ratchet strap or come a long to hold the hitch in place while you position it and start the bolts.

The other thing you might want to keep an eye on is the bolts that hold it together. Over time they have a tendency to loosen up, This comes from friend who is in the hitch making business that supplies these people (B&W) with some of there componits. THey are good units but I feel expensive.

Measure twice, drill once, and the advise that BDaugherty has given you is a good idea and when I finally upgrade my 04. 5 CTD to the B&W Companion hitch, that is what I'll do to keep it in place for install. :)

If you are using this for the 5th wheel application only you don't need the safety chains. They are only needed for the goose neck application.

I found a good way to do the install - did the first myself - using a 2x4 and ratchet strap as mentioned above.

The next three installs I was involved with - had my son and a friend do them while I supervised!!
