Heavy Duty Pintle Hitch?

I moved this to the towing and hauling forum where you'll get more response.

Every time I've needed something moved I've had more than enough offers from members, sometimes in relay fashion, hope the same for you.

OTRPU might chime in here, I know he goes all over the country hot-shotting for a living. He has a nice rig too, I saw it while at ATS in Sept. Nice sleeper cab on that thing!

By the way Gifford, while we are waiting for someone to offer his services, what does that kit come with? Do you have a link to the website? It sounds really neat!

You stole the words right out of my mouth Robert. I assume this "kit" is a body based on some kind of other chassis. I need details.

My "kit"

The kit is a replica of the famed 1965 AC Cobra, made by Factory Five racing. There are several other companies in the states and one in Oz that specialize in this market. I did a great deal of research before choosing Factory Five not only because they are the cheapest, but their engineering (period correct TUBULAR steel frame not square channel among other things), loyal customer following (they've sold over 5000 since 1995) were impressive.

Most people associate "kit cars" with the fiberglass monstrosities of the 70's that used Volkswagen chassis and running gear. THose days are OVER!. This is a frame up replica (with major improvements due to todays technology) that when complete easiliy exceeds the performance of the original. Indeed it exceeds the performance of even the most exotic supercars on the planet.

With this kit ($11,990) and a donor 88-93 mustang 5. 0(~$2600) you get everything you need to build a car that absolutely RUNS away from anything on the road. This car registers and titles AS a 1965 AC Cobra.

I've chosen on my kit to skip the 302, and use a 427 big block which adds quite a bit to the cost (450+ horsepower in a 2300lb car, yeeeowwwww!).

The factory sells the kits FOB Wahreham, Mass. so thats why I was askin around on here to see if I could get a better price than their recomended carrier, who wants 1300 to ship to California. (More than I had thought it would cost).

Checkit out: www.factoryfive.com

$1300 isn't that bad of a price. It's about 3000 miles. That is $. 43 a loaded mile. You should be able to get it to you for as little as $800.

Most Hot Shot companies are going to charge $4500, $1. 50 a loaded mile for that trip. That is what I charge. The problem with some car carriers it delivery time can be up to 3 weeks, so they can get a full truck of cars.

I would do a Google search and get quotes from different car carriers if time isn't an issue.

65 Cobra title

In California (for sure) and several other states (I've read), REPLICA cars can title as the year they represent. SB100 makes provisions for that here. (SB100 is senate bill 100 which allows replica/classic car manufacturers to do this)

Gifford, thanks for the link, always wanted to build something some day, sounds very interesting and lucky for me I live 45 minutes from the factory, maybe I'll pop in some day to check them out.

I have also looked at the Factory Five kits. I have 67 Mustang GT convertable that I'm restoring now. When I am done with it, I would like to do a Factory Five Cobra Coupe. Good luck with kit project. Where in California are you located? I am in Orange County, would like to see the quality of the kit if you are close enough.
