I believe that he had a clogged screen on the in tank inlet. Could be you got skanky fuel with lots of growth, it would float in the tank then be drawn up to the screen when the engine is running. After you shut down the suction goes away and the crud would float off the inlet screen. I have seen this with rust in fuel tanks on gas cars and trucks, most manufactures have gone to plastic tanks so no more rust problems unless you get it from the pumps or somebody puts stuff in your tank... ..... This is just a guess and other than pull the tank, which is a PIA I dont know how you could test for it, At least with the pressure guage you know it is loosing pressure before the filter on the motor narrowing it don to something down stream. Load testing the pump, also a PIA would tell you if it is overloaded. Good Luck and keep us updated.
