I have read and reread Robt. Pattons article on guages from last year. As I get older, my US Gear guages are becoming harder and harder to read at night.

I read the article over and over and he said the Dipricol guages had the best night lighting but I like the EV Isspros better.

My question is: Can you see them well at night?????

Barry,

Perhaps like you, my eyesight is getting worse as I get older, however I have the Isspros EV series of guages (EGT, Trans, Boost) on the pillow and do not have a problem reading them at night. The guage lighting is connected to the fuze curcuit that controls the dash lights so they can be turned up or down as desired.

Isspro EV Guages

Hi, Barry!! been a while since I talked to you, the EZ I got from you is working great, thanks, and great price!! Anyway had the EV guages for almost a year, Got the rainbow Boost guage face and it doesn't read as well with the dash lights dimmed, works great turned up though, but you can read the regular guage face (boost) almost down to dark dimmed. You might want to check if you have a pillar mount, as the curved face of the EV series can reflect back light colored objects in the daylight, which you may find annoying. I asked about this some time ago, but according to the responses, evidently only my tired old eyes have this issue

Anyway something to check into, overall I am pleased with the guages.

EV Guage Post Correction

My mistake, rainbow guage face is for EGT, not boost as previously stated! Old eyes don't help with typing either!!!

I'm a few miles down the road, but if you want you can check out mine. I too, find the colored EGT gage hard to read at night, but the others are no problem. Mine are mounted in an autometer dash pod.

EV the only way to go :D

I purchased EV guages for my dash pod. The guages were so bright even hooked up to the dimmer control, I had install the green color bulb covers to match the dash lights. the combination is unbeatable. :D :D

Just swapped my old isspro's to the EV series yesterday. Used the green bulb covers too. I like them a lot. Very easy to read last night on the way home. Color is only slightly different than my stock dash and brightness matched perfect with the factory dash lights. Have them hooked to the dimmer too.

My wife told me on the way home she could easily read them from the pass seat too. The old one's she had to lean over and make an effort to read. The new ones she said she could just sit there and read them with no problem.

I also rode in a few trucks this weekend at had the EV's w/o the bulb covers. One guy demonstrated for me that you could even see the gauge lights come on in the daylight. -- So I got mine wired up and turned on the light. Could not see them ( or the factory dash either, too sunny ). After the demo I was worried that I did not get them hooked up right. I removed the pod and put a meter on there. had power. So I waited to night time and gave it a try. I like it a lot.

I have the EV pyro on the dash with Autometer Zseries boost/transnext to it. The EV is MUCH easier to read. I can dim them enough that I can only make out the needle position on the Z series but the EV is still easy to read. They do reflect a little light on the windshield, but I don't notice it unless I'm looking at the guages.

I've run Isspro EV's for over a year on my truck with no complaints at all. They work well and are easy to read at night. I used the green bulb covers on them and they match the factory lights pretty well.

Good luck,

Mike

If anything, I think the EV's are too bright. I have mine in the cup spiller location and they are brighter than the factory gauges even with bulb covers.

I'm moving them to the a-pillar and will probably try a separate dimmer circuit. I do not like overly bright gauges. The high beam indicator was really annoying, too.

edit

I have white needle gauges. I have seen the red needle gauges in a package and they match 2nd gen factory gauges very well.

How many of you guys are running the red/orange needles versus the white neeles? I am going to try the R5535M programmable tach(3 3/8 inch) and they don't make it with the red needles.

My boost gauge is an EV series and the other two are the originals. All are easy for me to see. Wish the trans. temp. didn't put so much light around the outside edge(puts some glare on the windsheild and is much brighter than the other 2). Other than that I'm happy with all of them. Might need to put a 28v bulb in that one.

P. S. - all orange pointers

Isspro lighting

I have the Boost (black face - white numbers) and Rainbow EGT and thought the Isspro gauge lights were too bright. Yes they're wired to the dimmer, but still brighter than the dash gauges in any case.

I ordered some bulb covers, appearently one gauge has a small bulb and the other has a larger bulb. I put 2 covers on the small bulb and painted the other with some lexan modeling paint turned out to be a good match. I also put a bulb cover on my Westach fuel pressure gauge. Even though none of the gauges match stylisticly, their light color and brightness matches each other and the dash gauges.

I find the gauges quite legible, but I wish the pointers were red or orange. There is not enough contrast with a white pointer on a white number.

I've had my Isspro Ev's for about a year, like them a lot. Very easy to see, if anything they are too bright at night. I colored the bulbs with a green marking pen and now they are perfect.

Thanx for all the replies! Sorry for the late reply on my part. Been at home iced in for 2 days.

Do you get the green "buld covers" from Isspro or some other supplier??

Who has the best deal and how much do they cost??

ISSPRO EV

Barry,

Try the PM again. I have the orange pointers and live right up the highway from you. I got mine from DIS. The green bulb covers came with the gauges.
