Truck hoods are the one we struggle with. The dock monkeys are bound and determined to flip the crates on their side for more cube, the hood breaks loose as it was never designed to ride on it's side and damage results.

DTNA has switched a majority of their freight over to a DDS service (Dedicated Delivery Service), this service delivers from the closest PDC to dealers daily and more recently even moving freight between the PDC's.....it has cut damage and increased dealer satisfaction 100%....

As DTNA adds more PDC's nationwide it will only get better...

We went with the ULINE manual 5/8" stapler its pretty cool, yeah we started with the plastic bander, now up to the 3/4" metal bander set up.

We figured out that the shipping stuff is pretty cool when your job is not to be in shipping. We all multi task so we dont have a "shipping dept"
 
If you think it's bad that they leave without a signature, wait till they start delivering at another business and you have to go get it. We had one of the drivers delivering our parts to the RAM/Jeep dealership and we would have to go get them. It took a little time but we finally broke the driver from that little habit. Our address was on the shipments but they were not delivered to us.
 
For those that want to know...

You CAN request signature required.....I called UPS Friday and voiced my concerns. They said it was no problem to change me over, the last step would be the local UPS center would call me and finalize my request...

That call happened about 4:00 pm yesterday, today when we got our UPS it was all active...signature required from now on....

So yes, there is a way to do it.
 
Received a follow up call today from UPS here in Brewer making sure that driver asked for signature and that all was well......
 
Mike, thanks for the leg work on this one, as a pharmacy this has bothered me that we didn't have to sign I will call and get it added to our stop.

I am an outbound shipper so I provided my UPS account number as ID when I called in. That probably doesn't affect anything as I would think that your delivery address would be sufficient and maybe providing my account number simply saved them a bunch of typing...but wanted to toss that out there...
