Tire pressure and tire wear?

While in a muffler shop I spotted a nice looking stainless steel muffler that was slightly used. They said a fellow with a motorhome had it installed and then removed. To make a long story short, I bought it and sent an email to the manufactuer, Riker, with the PN to get info. After a couple weeks they got back to me and said, "Very good muffler and expensive. Do not recommend using an offset muffler on a diesel. " Thats all they said. Now I'm confused. Our stock mufflers are offset so I don't understand the problem? I already had the muffler put on and the reason I bought it is because I didn't want a loud muffler and this muffler while it isn't straight through, I could see lots of daylight going through. Figured it would have less back pressure than the stock muffler. Anybody that can shed any light on this?

Thanks

M Barnett

You're probably fine! My Banks kit came with a 4x3. 5 offset muffler. I got the bug for the 4" 21471 Walker straight thru muffler and 4" tailpipe and didn't gain anything noticable but noise. I can't see lite thru the Banks muffler so it's a good chance yours is better if it's a big case and 4". Craig

I don't think the offset is the problem. It's probably the fact that many offset mufflers are chambered, and chambered mufflers are a bad idea on a diesel.
