I had dinner tonight with one of my less fortunate buddies that owns a Ford and we discussed my low boost problem (15 psi). As my dealer can't seem to understand a bad lift pump won't make boost pressures that high and that 15 is not high we decided to try to find some leaks tomorrow. He said Ford's manual recomends using an air regulator and an air source to charge the intercooler and air horns while soaping down the hoses first followed by the forward surface of the intercooler. If I do this to a Dodge will it damage anything - and how much pressure is to much? By the way Ford recomends this procedure every 10,000 miles.

If you are stock 15 is right. I have had a leak(I run 32 psi and leaked down to 30). I could hear the leak in the cab.

Had the pressure test done to mine, they used 20lbs. and found both "hump" hoses leaking. The one off the turbo had a small crack and the one to the air intake was folded over on the bottom side where you couldn't see. One of the hoses off the intercooler had also slipped and was leaking. I was told it's pretty common for the hoses to slip out from under the clamps. You didn't need soap and water, the hissing was loud all over. Good luck

Which is right for a stock 2001 15 psi or 19 to 20 psi?

15 to 17 is right. 20. 5 will defuel. The computer thinks there is a problem.

What should I get when I hook up the EZ and use the turnbuckle trick or a 22 brass. I tried both and still didn't get more than 15 psi.

If I remember right ez and 22 shell gave me 27-28. Your gate must have been still opening. It takes very little leak to make alot of noise.

testing for leaks from the turbo......

there have been posts about this. you can make a"fitting" to put in the inlet of the hose to the intercooler, with a valve stem in it. then use a regulated air source to apply pressure, and check for leaks. i think most use about 20 PSI of pressure. i believe the end of the hose will take a 4" pvc pipe, glue a cap on the end of it, and drill the end cap to accept a truck tire valve stem... ... .
