:{ My 99 has a bad "miss" at 18-21 lbs of boost--only when in overdrive & accellerating; and only with Edge EZ . Edge replaced the EZ with a new one--no change. :confused: There are no engine codes & nothing else seems to be affected. :rolleyes:

engine miss

When you changed the boxes did you change the wiring harness. I had a simular problem changed boxes 3 times still a miss, changed box wiring harness all is well now. Thanks Steve B

I believe he is talking about the wiring harness that comes with the box. Be sure to clean any ground connections or run a temporary ground for the box directly to the battery and test. Another spot to check is the plug on the VP44. It has a push pull locking mechanism that holds the plug to the connection. My 99 had that release pulled out and the plug a little loose in the socket. Please report back any findings.

The EZ does not plug into the back of the injection pump.

The EZ does not have a Harness. The wiring is integral of the unit.

Sounds like a dying injection pump, or low lift pump pressure.

Is the exhaust any different color when the truck is missing? Light gray or blue?

My adjustable boost elbow lost the set screw somehow, and at ~18 - 20 PSI, it would cause the waste gate to open instantly under hard acceleration, and I lost all boost and power. Took me quite awhile to get that figured out :-{} Replaced it with a non-adjustable elbow. This may not be your issue, but is easy enough to check. Just completely clamp off or close the wastegate line so it will not open at all then give it a run.

new info

Sorry I have not responded sooner. I appreciate the answers. Newest info I have is that the mis-fire only shows up on harder acceleration--not WOT or on light throttle. I noticed this last trip w/ trailer. Also, it does not smoke or lose boost when this happens, and fuel pressure is not affected--sits at near 10 lbs :confused:

rd. runnr, Check out my problem in the post missing at wot. My truck also misses at partial throtle if my box (edge comp) is on 4 or 5. Mark at Piers suggested it could be a lack of fuel not pressure as i am running 13 and 10-11 at WOT. I have a fairly new 44 (10 mo) so I dobt if thats it. I will be interested to know what your problem was. Dave D

Any solution?

Rd. Runner,

Have you had any luck with a solution? I have a similar problem. When under load, my engine also misses. I have replaced my lift pump and my APPS sensor, but neither has made the problem change. I am not setting any codes in the PCM. My next part change is the crank position sensor. Good luck and let us know the results.

You sure it is not TC shudder that is occurring? Read what Bill has posted on his forum about shudder. SNOKING

Skip

Welcome to the world of the mistery skip. I have had it for over three years.

It is worse with a box hooked up and worse in the cold weather months.

I have replaced three lift pumps, one injector pump,and every sensor on the truck. Still no cure.

My suggestion in get use to it or sell the truck.

There are several post on this matter.

Sorry for the bad news.

there is a guy in the long catcher thread that had the same problem i think and installed the catcher and said that it finally took care of the problem. it may have been darkhorse but not positive. i have same problem and no luck finding problem.

update

:confused: The latest trip with trailer only created more ?'s. On the 1st hundred miles everything was normal. The next leg (3 days later) the miss was back. I have cleaned all the electrical grounds, replaced alt. brushes, I have the voltage reg. from Bill K. & it is adjusted properly, I also have the noise filter from Bill to cancel alt. noise spikes One thing I did notice is that I do not have as much smoke on wot. I also do not develop as much boost as before the block was replaced. (It was 35+ now is 27-28) Any chance that I am delivering the wrong amount of fuel to injectors? (too much or too little) I realize that I am grasping at straws but it is very frustrating. :-{}

I had a similar problem only it would miss maybe once a month. Had it to the dealer for some other service and mentioned it to them. They said, "oh yeah, your crank sensor is starting to go" They put a new one in and the truck runs real strong. Must have been going for a long time and didn't realize it till it statrted "skipping" every now and then.

Miss in engine should be missing completely!!!

I have had the miss that you talk about since new and nothing has fixxed it so far not the CKP or any other dollar I have wasted on it so far. :-{} :-{}

I have this problem too. I notice it only in 5th or 6th gear with heavy throttle, but I can't duplicate it in lower gears, or at lower speeds. Most of the time I notice it getting on the freeway, it feels like hitting little bumps, but really its the truck stumbling, missing or cutting out. It does it with the comp off, but not nearly as bad as when the comp is on. I do think it is cold weather related. I think it is a software issue in fuel mapping or something. I think that load or speed has an effect on it since I can't duplicate at low speeds. Maybe we need marco and that Catcher to fix this.

Lets get some input from everyone that has this issue and find a fix for it.

I have the same thing. In cold weather when towing. It feel like a shutter or little bumps. When it comes out of the garage its fine. a few hours in the cold it back again. Not on wot, but about 10-22lbs of boost when trans is locked up.

I started getting something similar after installing injectors and Comp in EZ mode, happens when pulling fairly hard in OD at around 2000 RPMs. SNOKING
