Wondering if anyone here might have JPEGS on the AFE Stage 1 installed for a 03' Ram? Considering installing one on my rig and am curious on how it installs. I had a AEM filter set-up on my 2002 Neon R/T and I didn't like the way it installed. I was worried about water and snow getting into the engine. I don't want to spend $300+ for something that doesn't perform as well as the factory unit. I drive the truck year round in Michigan and have to deal with inclement weather.

Also, for you folks who have installed the filter systems, have you noticed any considerable gains in performance? Any better mileage? Does the Stage 1 coupled with the Torque tube make that much of a difference? If the filter set-up doesn't add that much to the mileage or performance, I will use their stock replacement type filter. Truck is a bone stock 03' with the 305/555 CTD, but I am considering adding a Quadzilla Tow Box or the Edge Juice Box if it ever comes to market. For you folks who have added a performance box, did you see any gains by adding the AFE stuff? :)

Here is a pic of the filters I make. The color can be different. The filter is K&N, 9" long and 7" DIA. PM for more info. Check out my Truck Pics.

Nice work kwikspool! I like the box you make. Does it go in the Stock location? Have you noticed any significant difference between the easier breathing version over stock? Do you stamp the box area out from a sheet or do you bend and weld it? Either way you did a nice job engineering and fabricating it! Have you eliminated the silencer tube or do you still use the stock piece?

I did search the forums before I asked about the AFE unit. Nobody has posted JPEGS of the unit in place on a Gen 3 truck. Did see how the Gen 2 stuff installed though. I don't want to just lay out $300 for a trick of the week item. When I put the Snorkel kit on the Neon, I wasn't impressed. I spend enough on the Race car as it is. Even then I only lay out cash only when I can't make something myself or I don't have the access to make the parts. Seems like there are a lot of folks here who like to make or modify parts as much as I do. No wonder why I like it here!

Here's my afe Magnum Force and PG7 filter

Thanks Any! Truck looks nice. I originally wanted mine in Patriot Blue, but once I saw it in Bright Silver I was hooked!

Talked to Will? at ATS today. I called about their injectors and ended up dicussing the merits of an Edge, AFE Filter set-up and abouut their new Turbo due out in a few months. Also talked about the Valve-Body and Converter. For now i will probalbly install a new air system and add an Edge EZ box. He said when the Juice Box comes out you will be able to stack it with the EZ box. He also said with the Beta unit stacked with the EZ ran smoother than the TST/ EZ combo. Very informative and very nice people! I will be doing business with them very soon! :D

Thanks for posting links and JPEGS Guys! This is at least giving me a good idea of how the systems fit compared to the stock air box. JVolpe, looks like the AFE is drawing air from the stock box location. Does the heat shield allow air to come in from the grill area as well? Also, how is the Turbo noise with the Torque tube vs. the stock tube? Is it significantly louder or marginally? I do like the improved flow, but don't want something to loud at highway speeds. I drive 50 miles round trip to work and back, so noise is a consideration over performance. Thanks again guys for your input! The TDR is a wonderful resource for these awesome trucks! :D

There is some air flow from the front opening toward the headlight, but most is from the factory inlet for the stock air box. The turbo noise is not loud in the cab, but you can hear it with the torque tube. Before I could not hear the turbo at all. On the highway cruising dont really hear it. If you have driver side window down and next to retainer wall, fence etc. , then you know you have a turbo diesel.
