Any one here a tow truck driver?

You guys are great! I know Scott will make sure it's returned back to me as good as it was the day he installed the DTT components. If Scott wasn't at the shop thenight they dropped it off I would of never known and don't want to imagine what would of come then. Figure why the trucks at his shop sitting tell a adjuster gets over through in a set of 100 horse injectors. Why he has the valve covers off adjust exhaust valves and hell why not a set of ARP head studs. Think the injectors were damaged with the tow?

Some of the ones I remember were like late night drops with no start issues such as bad fuel pump or charge system. Once we got them running the auto trans were broken. Owners were like IT WAS DRIVING OK UNTIL. Upon teardown it was obvious when planetary gears were destroyed with clean fliud and no other damage. Then the HUNT was on for the tow service and the driver.

I've towed for many years, the only way we'll tow a 4X4 is on the flatbeds. If they're wrecked we'll get em out with the wrecker then haul them wherever they are going . I won't plug our shop but as I see it it's just the proper way.

(edited) BTW, I don't know if it has anything to do with thier prociedure but we are a AAA towing service. Common sense rules the way we tow.

I was towed last month for being parked in gated community and a long story short there was no visible postings or anything and I was towed at night there was a half of a block of skid marks from where he drug my truck and trailer so I would not hear him hooking up. I have bad U-Joint slop now that was not there before and of course flat spots in my tires I have been fighting with the housing association and they say not their porblem it is the security company who called the tow as a towing service can anyone give me some points on resolving this I don't know what to do at this point? P. S. I sent them a letter with all of the towing requiments pictures etc.

Take pics. I just left the tow industry after 12 years '93-'05, and it ain't hard to get under a vehicle and disconnect the shift linkage and move the lever 2 clicks back for neutral, heck, I could even get my fat azz under your truck :-laf . Take lots of pics of the skids, your tires, and the invoice. If they whine (they usually do), go to court. Fight it till the end. It's clear they towed it with the drive wheels on the ground and never bothered dropping the driveshaft or un-hooking the linkage. Also, make sure the driver was qualified to drive with 3 vehicles (tow, your truck and trailer). I can't recall at this time, but I think if you have more than 1 vehicle in tow, you are required to have a CDL. Btw, when I had to tow a 4x4, it was always on a flatbed, and when one wasn't available (or driver was too lazy to bring it), I put it on a tow dolly. I didn't take chances, and not to brag, I have several letters of thanks from disabled motorists for how I took care of them and their cars. AAA DOES NOT always roll a 'bed (out here anyways) for a 4x4. They roll a regular rig and if it can't do the job, you're subject to up to a 3 hour delay for a 'bed. They're also not the cleanest/smartest bunch either. Dodge, since pretty much 1994 iirc, has always stated that 4x4's (Ram, Dakota, Durango) must be towed via dollies or flatbed or transmission damage is likely. 2wd's are limited to 30mph on the drive wheels. The newest book I saw was '02, so if anything changed since, so shoot me :-laf

Not per Dodge or AAA tow manual. I just go by what I read, and if it said to 'bed it or dolly, i'm doing it. Lots of my buddies did what you said. Fine, but I ain't taking chances. I was only towing for 12 years without a single damage claim, only 'cause I did things "by the book", which also included an account for a local Jag/Benz/Audi/Porsche/Rolls/Bentley/Volvo dealership chain.
