Hello all

truck is a 98 4x4 2500. I had a hub assembly go bad on the drivers side and had to replace it. I bought a new unit with a new ABS wire already attached. I installed the new unit but removed the new ABS wire and installed the one already on the truck into the new assembly. I re- assembled all the parts and cranked down on the big nut that helps hold the assembly on. Now the problem- When I start the truck, the ABS/brake lights are not on, but once I move about 500 ft the lights come on and wont go off. Once I shut it off lights go out until I move approx 500 ft. and then they come on. Also once I start the truck, the brakes are very touchy but once the lights come on the brake pedal seems to have a little more play in it. I also notice a squeaking sound coming from the fron wheel area. I have 2 suggestions that I thought it might be

1. when the assembly was going bad I noticed the brakes on that side were not working causing the truck to pull hard to the right when the brakes were depressed. Could the brake pads not be true causing the ABS to come on??

2. IS it possible to have the big axle nut to tight causing an issue with the assembly ??

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

It sound like to me that the abs sensor to your right side is not working. Your abs light will be off until you start to move. If the abs does not see turning from all the sensors the light will come on. There is a resistance value you can measure for but I don't know what it is . Someone can chime in that may know what it is. But I think you have a sensor problem.
