I Got Pucked on This Deal

If they are claiming that this box maintains a constant voltage, it sounds like the box is composed of a few capacitors, and resistors to make a self sufficient voltage regullator.

Net cost of goods, $4. 39 at your local Radio Shack. Knowing how to put it together $90. 61.

Sticks-its a little more than that. Bill K told me he thought it was a filter like the old ones you put on your car to eliminate the static caused by the ignition on the radio. No its not a filter at all. Yup they (happibox) do know how to put the electrics together so that it won't throw codes or put you into limp mode. People are reporting better towing, less rpm after installing box at a set speed than without box, positive lockup of TC, no more hunting in and out of lockup, etc. Talk to some of the trans companies about the time they have put in trying to eliminate these problems. Yes some sell filters or resistors to splice in lines between the tps-ecm-pcm-trans. Some even work for a while but the problem comes back. Look at the threads on this subject and you see all sorts of fixes including replacing the tps, pcm or ecm. Check out how much they cost (ecm=+$700), try the happibox first it's a heck of a lot cheaper. These guys fiquired out how to eliminate the voltage fluctuations that cause these problems-something Dodge tried with a "reflash" that they admit doesn't work. :D

The Strategy Controller has an active (amplified) filter, which is a step up from a passive filter. The difference is that an active filter provides much better filtering without sacrificing the power of the filtered signal.

There are differences. The HappiBox does not filter or amplify any signals. It just gives a clean true signal to the transmission for lockup control.

It is too bad the installation instructions don’t come up on their site. That would be a clue on how it works.

Looking closely at the picture of the box, it appears there is only a red and black wire coming out of the HappiBox. This tells me it is a passive circuit (no active filter or op-amps) and having only two leads means it can only be one or a combination of a resistor, capacitor or inductor. My guess is it is an electrolytic capacitor used only to filter noise. The electrolytic capacitors are polarized with a plus and minus terminal, hence the red and black wires.

Trying to understand how it works... Looks like there's 3 wires coming out of it to me. So does it just send out a steady volt signal then? Hook up a power, ground, and cut the original wire to the pcm then splice in the one from the happi box that sends out constant voltage? If so does it need a filter?

Does It Work?

I've looked at the discussion on this thread. IMHO I don't care if it's $0. 20 worth of parts that cost us $95 to put together, $16 to ship and 1/2 hour to install . . . As long as it works. So the question that is not being answered here is "Does it work?".

Has anyone tried this unit and what were the results. How long has it been on their vehicle?

Thanks

edit: I just looked at another post re: happibox and apparently a few folks paid and didn't receive them. It's possible since then they received the box, but they never updated the thread.
