Competition Sea trials begain

I was down there... and didn't get a chance to see much. I had to leave at around 4:ish. And at that point they havent even started 1st round elim. Everytime a nitro funny car would go down it would blow up and set things back an hour or so.

Here is what I know..... we left before they finished final rounds.

Pro street - Stucky Racing

Comp vs Keating rematch - Keating

Keating ran a new best of 8. 81

Comp ran a new best of 8. 62

Eric made several 7 second runs. Last one had his best 60' ever.

Didn't see TS performances fast truck there did you? Was waiting to see if they really got that new pump & turbo dialed in.

The TS truck was down and thus not at the event.

Pleasure meeting you at the event, Lewis. The new signature is great, by the way!

Great to meet you too. Amazed at the number of board members there. At least on the new sig line there is no disputing it. . :-laf

I was there and had an awsome time!! I got 3rd in Diesel brackets, payout of $50! but A great time was had by all! Got to meet a lot of new faces too.

The object is to turn on the win light, that is the sport we call drag racing. We can all say “could a, should a, would a,” but the final say is the win light.

Seriously, I hope that the Dr. Performance Race team continues to attend DHRA events, it was a pleasure to chat with the crew, their presence was greatly appreciated by all.

What a week I've had.

Points leader Philip Palmer of Stuckey Racing defeated Jeff Garmon in the final round to repeat as event winner. Some may have forgotten, Philip's first race was Atlanta 2005 where he attended and won his first race with DHRA. Congrats to Stuckey Racing. Jeff Garmon once again proved, you gotta finish to win.

Buck Spruill set another performance record running the 10. 49 previously mentioned by Amy. Again, awesome job and congrats on the new record.

Quick Diesel was the best I've seen. A field of 9 racers all capable of running the index.

Brandon Meyers competed in his fist ever Quick Diesel race and came home with the win. Meyers also secured the Garmon award for best package (0. 150) and Top MPH. (114. 35)

The finals had Meyers facing points leader Jim Layden in a close fight to the finish. Both trucks had been running consistent all day but Meyers . 029 reaction time on a 12. 143 pass was enough to cover Laydens 12. 10 run. Both trucks traped at 114 mph and change.

This class was fun to watch. Great reaction times and close ET's from all drivers meant there was side by side action all day. Truly a racers class!! Congrats Brandon on a great job winning over some very tough competition.

Bracket was another big class. Billy Counts (Billy Ram) pulled out the victory as 2nd place winner John Tallant went red. Billy bought back in after a first round loss which payed off as his reaction times and ET's were dead on the rest of the day.

Will Harris repeated as winner for the manual transmission class for the 2nd time. Will’s 2002 Dodge 2500 recorded a best pass of 14. 15 at 95 mph for the $250 certificate from South Bend and $200 DPM cash.

Top Diesel - WOW

Keating new best 8. 81, Dr. Performance, new best pass 8. 62. Scheid on the last pass of the day trying to better their already awesome 7. 70 @ 181 mph, ended up slipping the transmission after running a 1. 17 60 foot and a 3. 16 330 foot. Drag Guess estimates that pass would have been a high 7. 30 at 191. Tells me those guys are on the right track. But all of the Pro Teams looked like Pro’s and put on a Pro caliber show.

A huge thank you to everyone that came and endured a very long day at the track. I don’t have attendance numbers yet, but there were a lot of folks out there.

Thanks to the sponsors for providing the means to make it all happen. Without them, we have no race. They would be one more time:

TS Performance

Suncoast Converters

Mass Diesel

Competition Diesel.com

Stuckey Racing

DP Tuner

South Bend Clutch

Silverline Exhaust

And Garmon’s Diesel Performance

Hey David. . Wish I could have been there. . Just a matter of time now, since Jeff is rebuilding the truck for me. What kind of times did Palmer, Jeff, and Morrison run? Did Jeff take it easy and run diesel only again?

Did Morrison even start his truck up? never saw it leave the pits. Wish TS was there... . that would have been an even more interesting show :-laf

David, as always that was a great report that you gave! ;) You did a great job at this event but I wouldn't expect anything less from you! :-laf

As usual I had a great time at the Atlanta Event! Louis, it was a pleasure to have finally met you in person and to have had time to talk with you and Keating. Congratulations on your great times. Also, my congratulations to Dan Scheid and Eric on their good run with the Scheid Diesel Dragster and to COMP (Greg Hogue) and his crew for finally bettering their previous best at Ennis of 8. 54 @ 154 MPH. FWIW,..... COMP, banshee and myself had a LONG talk at this event about alot of issues and I am hopeful it cleared up some "problems" we have had in the past both at the dragstrips and on this website.

Great show as always! John, it was nice to finally meet you in person. I have been to this event 3 times now, and I meet folks very year that have been there as many (or more) times than I have. I think we could use nametags to help us out :-laf

Timbeaux:

Great to have finally met you too! ;) To add to what you said, at alot of these events there are other members also there, that you don't know are there, who you would really like to meet and talk with but never get the chance! :( Did that make any sense at all????? :-laf Anyway, I think you know what I mean.

Hope to see everyone again real soon at another event, maybe Houston.
