Need name and address on where to send a letter to DC

Any good MP3 sites?

I have a TON of . mp3’s and would like to convert them into CD Audio (. cda) format for listening on long trips.

What do you use? Links would be helpful.

TIA

I don't know what software you use to burn rom's, but Nero 5. 5 will convert mp3's to cda's automatically if you choose to create an audio cd and add mp3's to the burn list. If you aren't using nero, winamp (which is free) will convert mp3's to wav's (which when burned on a cd will play in car stereos), just look under options in the "output" section and choose output to file.

My bro uses winamp and it works great. The wave file will play on "most" cd players. However it they will not play in my Dad's 98. 5, but they do play in my 2001.

.wavs

They work in my 98. 5 stock CD player. The thing I found is: if they are burned slower than 4x, the CD player won't play them. I don't know why.

dmurdock & me4osu,

I use Adaptec for CD burning and it works fine for copying Audio to Audio but, it won't convert mp3s to audio:(

joesoot,

What should I be looking out for (scams:confused:) The biggest problem I have found with the current shareware is; it is only rated average (at best) or results in OS problems (hangs, slow speed, etc. )

JR2 & me4osu,

The CTD, PT, Sony CD, or Bose will not recognize mp3s converted from Adaptec or Winamp.

BGDUMMY,

If I come across something, I will let you know. One problem, at a time:D

Thank you all for you help, but I am still at a lose here:(

I've noticed on a few shareware sites, some of the download links were scam links... meaning they'd take you to some top 10 voting gateway, or something worse. (*)(*)popups.

another note: I downloaded windows media player 7. 01 today it has CD ripping abilities... ?

BigDaddy,

I don't know which version of Adaptec you are using. I have Easy CD Creator 5, which is now owned by Roxio. When I burn a CD I can drag an . MP3 file or a . WAV file to the project list and it converts it on the fly to . CDA - no problems - especially if you have one of the newer burners that have "Burn-Proof" technology built into them that prevents buffer underruns. I NEVER burn coasters anymore.

When you say that the CTD, PT, Sony or Bose will not recognize MP3s converted from Adaptec or WinAmp are you saying that these CD players WILL recognize and play other CDs that you burn as long as the tracks were not converted from MP3? I know that some automotive CD players have problems with the CD-R format.

I recently installed the Sony CDX-444RF changer in my truck and before I purchased it I made sure that it was compatible with the CD-R format. I have no trouble playing CDs that I convert from MP3 using the Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 software.

Adaptec Software

BigDaddy-

The version I have is "Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4"; you may have something different. I have downloaded hundreds of . mp3 files using morpheus, and the Adaptec software that I use converts them ALL to . wav format as it is burning. I have about ten CD's in my rig (see sig) that I burned using Adaptec to convert from mp3, and they all work fine in the STOCK CD player. Maybe the new ones won't play burned CDs; I don't know, but the one in my 98. 5 does. Like I said, the only time they don't work is when I hook up the burner to the parallel port and it burns at 1x. Using the USB port, the external burner I have runs at 4x and all of those CDs work perfectly (ie. no skips, no long wait to start).

If you can't play any CDRs in your stock deck at all, there are some new decks from Kenwood and Blaupunkt (for about $350 buck) that play them ALL (CD,CD-R, CD-RW and MP3). When I get a new deck, I want one of these, because you can burn about 190 mp3s on a single disk, whereas you can only get about 19 wavs on one disk.
