Mine does not shudder at launch, but the transfer case lever sure moves around a lot! I would suspect a broken mount, but I do not see one. Anybody else noticing this movement? Still loving it!

Mr Plow, do you know what was done to fix the launch shudder? Mine has it just a bit. Not really enough to worry about, but if I were taking it in for something else, I might mention it to them.

For those of you that are interested, I posted some pictures of the steel shim I used to adjust the angle of my rear differential in my Readers Rigs gallery.

I'm also considering writing a personal web page that gives detailed instructions (with pictures) on how to measure and adjust the driveline angles, both front and rear. I would take the opportunity to publicly bash my dealer also :D

Is there enough interest to warrant the effort???

re the launch shudder:

from what i understand, it was simply about angles. although i am not completely convinced, but i am going to have to wait a few weeks to find out as my truck is covered with snow and ice right now. My initial seat of the pants was that the launch shudder was completely gone, but i'm not sure yet. I am going to take it to a driveshaft shop soon and have them inspect all the joints etc.

so far, it is 98% better than it was before.

BTW, my launch shudder was pretty bad.

hope this helps.

My dealer balanced the tires and said it took care of the problem, thanks to this site,I insisted it was something else,( I did this over the phone without setting foot in the dealership). So after a conversation with the service manager( the 3rd largest dealership in the Midwest) i gave him a few thing to look for. He removed the drive shaft and the vibrations was gone. They replaced it with another drive shaft off another truck and it is much better but not perfect!

I posted this in the other 3G forum, but Ill post here also. We drove back from Ruidoso with our new 03 HO 4X4 QC this passed Sat. I had the pusating vibration at about 70 mph. Going to 75 it would start to go away, and at 80 it was gone. Funny thing though, I had the same pulsating vibration in the 01 that I sold in Feb.

On another note, the dealer told me before we left that my rattling noise from the left front fender was from a loose pinion nut where the drive shaft goes into the front differential. It sounded like the fender liner was rattling to me. Maybe the pinion nut could be loose in the back. Just a thought.

OK. I'll get it designed and uploaded. It will probably take me a few days (very busy), but I'll post the link to it when I get it finished.

 PCLINE Thank you for your info, I have had my truck less than two weeks and I have the vibe at 65, right at the speed i like to drive. I do not want to take it to the dealer for them to screw with". If your fix works I want to be the first to shake your hand and buy you lunch. Sounds like a easy fix. I am not sure how to go about getting the right measurements, or what measuring equipment to use. I will be looking fwd to all of your info. THANKS LARRY O

PCline. .

Thanks for posting all you know.

I have an 04 QC SB 4x4 HD Cummins.

I have the vibe. Feel like a turboprop airplane (albiet subtle) vibe at 65 through 75. It comes in modulating till 70 when its' continuous.

It has a single driveshaft. Looking at the angles out the xfer case and into the rear axle they look to be pretty similar.

I'm going to try removing the front axle first.

Two dealerships I took mine to refused to relace any parts. They said Chrysler has put th ehold on part swapping by charging the dealership if it does not fix the problem. Both told me to wait on TSB.
