First of all, I'm a new member and love the site! but I just installed the Edge comp and injectors and on a take off from a dead stop then the engine will "surge" before totally opening up. Its kinda like its not getting enough air but i just put a air intake on and I get the same thing. It jumps like three times then shifts into 2nd and takes off like it should. It only does it when I flat foot it from a stop. Any ideas??

If it's just on takeoff and goes away after the 1-2 shift... I'd say it's probably the trans having issues with the power. Same symptoms with the Comp off? Better or worse on higher comp levels? How about on the secondary 'responsiveness' settings?

Yes the comp is grounded to the batt. and i can turn the comp on level 1 or off and it still does it. it seems the higher that I turn the comp then the less it does it. I'm pretty sure that its not the transmission cause the when it "surges" then the smoke comes in puffs. Also I had an EZ on it for about 2 weeks before i traded it for the comp and the EZ it the same deal. Thanks for your comments - hope I can figure this out!

Oh - one more thing, I took my air filter completely off this afternoon and made a short trip up the road to make sure that it wasnt the airflow and it did the same thing.

I think I'd contact Edge and ask their tech guys. They've been real helpful to me and others here in the past. Definitely mention that it happened with both boxes. Keep posting any results or other tests you run, may help someone else or you may run into a situation that someone else has been through.

no I havent - On my Sebring I can do a key dance and read codes can I do a key dance on my truck to get codes or do I have to get a dealer or someone to read codes??

Turn the key on and off three times, leaving it on the third time. Watch the od readout. SNOKING

Just did the key dance and it doesnt pull any codes! Edge doesnt think its their box since I can turn the comp off and it still does it - It doesnt seem like the engine is missing, it seems like its programed to do it. Anyway I'll keep on looking and maybe I'll find it and if not then i'll take it to Enterprise (EEP) and have them find the prob.

I just talked to Edge again and they think its the factory computer defueling the engine at low boost and didn't think there was anything to do about it. The defueling part of it makes sense but is there any way to program the computer to avoid it?? Its not like its a big problem but it sucks for drag racing cause I don't have out of the hole acceleration!

"torque management" is what that's called, don't know if that's the official lingo or not. There is a device from BD, the RAD Racer's Anti-defueling Device that deals with it. Some serious warnings about the transmission though, shafts tend to break if they aren't billet. Search should find a bunch more info.
