Competition Sled Pull In Blackfoot Idaho!

Competition Who is going racing?

Kinda interferes with Diesel Thunder in Spokane... There is going to be quite a show of Dmax smoking power in Spokane, but I think the Chebby owners will place bets against my little ETH.

Where's it at? I'd be interested in going. Maybe Jim Fuller will go and show everybody up. I must admit it will be hard for a manual to beat an automatic up a hill from a standing start pullin 10k. I lose so dang much between shifts waiting for the turbo to spool again.

Well, below is the invite as the posted on brand X's site.

We're holding our third annual "Diesel Day Pull-Off" here in western Montana on September 6-7. All Ford, Dodge and GM diesel truck owners and diesel related aftermarket vendors are invited to attend. The focus is on power comparisons between the three brands of trucks and the aftermarket power products currently available.

On Friday evening we'll all meet at a local steak house for dinner, then on Saturday, we'll run the trucks on a 6% grade (either a 1-mile or a 3-mile) with a loaded trailer weighing approx 10,000#.

Following the event, a story will appear here in The Diesel Page that covers the event and products used to make power. Other than your Friday steak dinner, there is no cost to attend for either truck owners or vendors. Just bring a truck and/or products you'd like discussed, or just come to spectate.

The past two events centered on pulling a 10K trailer up a 6% grade for a measured mile from a standing start. This not only measures engine power, but also measures the ability of the drivetrain to put that power to the ground. We'll run at least three "classes", 1- stock, 2- chipped and 3- modified.

The aftermarket has made significant advances in Duramax performance this past year. The Pull-Off this time will help us determine how the Duramax currently competes stock and when chipped/modified.

This is a low-key and fun event. Please let me know if you can make it... ... .

:D And here is my reply:D :D

Hello,

I'm wondering if you boys would let me come play in your sandbox?? I only got a 2001 2500 quadcab SWB Dodge with a 6 speed and exhaust brake with a BHAF filter. Truck weight is right at 7,200lbs Would the trailer your planning on pulling be a bumper mount or gooseneck configuration.

My home email is -- email address removed -- and I'm a registered TDR member is good standing.

Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks for taking time to read this.

:( You know, when I read the thread, I was thinking it was in Spokane which is only 5 hours away from Portland  But now I realize, it's almost to my parents home in Salmon, Idaho, which means it is around 635 miles one way. Home is only 90 more miles. So now that I have opened my mouth and inserted my foot :{ I guess I'm commited,:D unless my wife decides to get :-{} with me and then I'll be  . Sooo maybe I just tell her I got to go away for a week end and see what kind of  I can get in. I got a month to dwell on this. I just started college again going for my degree in Bussiness Management. Depending on how much home work they hit me with will be the determining factor. I really want to do this bad. Wish me luck!!!:D

Here is their reply. I'm invited. But it's a long drive for just maybe a chance to pull.

Sure, you are invited to attend. There will be a few other Dodges there as

well. Whether you'll run the hill depends on the makeup of the field of

Dodges, and whether there'll be time for everyone to run who wants to.

The trailer will be a 10K bumper pull. We'll have a drop hitch and ball.

Just make sure your trailer brake controller is functional to work with an

RV style receptacle.

See you... .

Did anyone else notice that even the 5 thousand dollar allison option has to be upgraded to withstand the power. So us 47rhers arent the only ones who need to upgrade the transmissions. Id like an allison but its outa my price range. I dont think i would ever get the electronics to work right either.

Am I totally missing where it is located at? All I can find is Western Montana, which leaves it pretty broad. I'll go and should stand a pretty good chance.

:D Look at a map and find Missoula Mont. Go directly south down the bitteroot valley. About 20 miles south of Lo Lo Mont. Thats what I'm having problems with. 635 miles one way to Stevensville Mont. . ;)

I would like to go!

What a great competitive event and real world test. I want to go and pull but not sure if I can find the time... ... ..... 1584. 6 miles :(. Larry

I'm surprised that the Chevy guys didn't want your VIN, length of left arm, and social security # divided by PI... .

It shouldn't be hard to spank whatever they have..... better watch out... those "Juicy Juice" juiceboxes are known to make the owner of the truck talk a lot of smack!!

Matt

I bet with 10 K on the back the Juice box is going to cause the Dmax to melt into a pile of pus. The juice is just like the COMP, its gonna add big heat and the guy better have the other mods required.

There has been lots of talk about how if some of you guys were invited to the past event from TDP the Cummins would have beaten everything there. Who will it be?

All I see now is KEY BOARD COURAGE.

i went last year but i told them this was the only weekend i couldn't do it in sept. sense they chose to do it then i can't play. i will be in spokane with my tdr buddies.

jim

You don't think

That the Chebby guys placed this event on that weekend - on purpose do you. Wonder which event was set up first?

go figure

I see how they want us to go to their hosted events, but won't let us even advertise multi-brand events on their site! I say boycott the *******s!

interesting, I received an email stating that unless my event was strictly for Duramax owners I was to not post about it, or have any members of TDP post it either.

Although I have posted about Thunder in Muncie on there before. We have D-maxes come out, and they compete too, so it'll pickup, I'm sure.

jdecampo - I got the same thing from Jim Bigley. I was told that ONLY events HOSTED by GM Dieselpage members FOR GM Dieselpage members could be posted on his site. He made himself very clear.
