Off Roading fd

I have a 2wd ram, but could tow the bronco if ever needed. I still drive the bronco 1-1/2 miles to work so its street registeded. Thought about making it a serious off road only vehicle.

I HAD one. A '68 with a 289 HI PRO. What a rust bucket, but I loved it. 3 on the tree converted to floor shift. I was going to put a fiberglass body on it, as a manufacturer is within 15 miles of my place, but a rotten frame ended that. I never liked Furds, but I loved my lil bronco.

I had one, loved it. My 1st new vehicle purchase 1974. It was unstopable offroad. Locker front and rear. Here are some photos. 74 Bronco

My brother used to have a '72 back in highschool... That was a pretty sweet little truck: 302ci, 3 on the tree (converted to the floor for convenience), bright red with a nice white interior and a white hard top. As I remember, that was the loudest car in school :D

He also had grand plans for it to be a serious offroader, but spent too much time just keeping it running, so he left the rear fenders uncut, forgot about the lift, etc... and eventually got a CTD :D

Had a green and white 1976 Sport 302 w/ a C4 auto. I sold it three years ago to raise money for a down on a house. Keep kicking myself in the butt, it was great off-road and I wish I still had it.

The only Furd I ever considered owning. Was working on a trade several years back with a friend. We were going to trade his '69 302 3 spd. Bronc for my '69 Chevy pickup. He backed out.

Early Bronc

I had a '66' half-cab. I took her through several changes in the years I owned her. The original drive train was a 170ci six and a three spd column shift. I transplanted a 289, with a toploader 4 speed. Next mod was to drop the suspension mounts to give it a 3" lift. then I installed a T-18 fourspeed. Traded the 289 for a 351 Windsor, this was perhaps the best combination I had in the Bronc. I then decided to build up a high winding 289. This combination was fun to drive, but it wheeled much better with the 351.

I finally sold it to make a down payment on my first house. In retrospect, I wish I still had the Bronc. Waaayy less maintenance on it than the house-and much more fun, I might add. In all this thrash I did learn quite a bit about the early Broncs, and I still have many contacts, so if I can help you out, let me know.
