Before I go back out and tackle this is there anyone who has installed the cat test pipe on a stock exhaust who has some time saving tips?? After looking at the two clamps holding it on I think I am in for some real fun as they over tightened them at the factory and pinched both ends pretty good. I have a feeling I am going to be using some foul language shorty! :(

I was able to take mine off in one unit but it took some time. First impact gun to remove clamps, then sprayed maltby to loosen things up. I used alot of it. Then since I was dropping whole system I disconnected the pipe from all hangers except the back. Then with some twisting and pulling finally got it out. Took a while said some words but I have mine in one complet unit and it can go right back in if need be.

I ordered it from DieselManor.com
Oh. . I didn't see it listed, just didn't scroll far enough down on this page:

One thing I am concerned about is the cat clogging with any mods. I advanced my timing 3 degrees and changed the cam. Fuel mileage went up some but so did the black haze on the rr fender.

When you get it on, post back your thoughts on any changes in noise.

I had a harder time removing mine. With use of a car lift and a torch to heat up pipe it helped alot. Took about an hour. I used heavy duty truck band clamps for instalation. It sounds much better.

When I put the straight pipe on my truck, I just used the sawzall and cut the pipe before the clamps. Dropped the 60lbs worth of muffler/resonator and then went from there. Granted I had no intentions of putting it back.

Follow up.....

Just wanted to say this was a real pain in the rear!! It took me a long time to separate the stock sections of exhaust. Had I enlisted some help it would have gone faster for sure. It took me even longer to get the stock sections back together again because of the ripple in them from the over-tight factory clamps. If you don't have a torch I wouldn't try this at home!

Results after removing the cat on my truck but leaving the stock muffler are lower egt's and it's slightly louder but definetly sounds way better now! I may still replace the stock muffler but I am much happier with the cat removed now.
