i need to remove the headliner in my 01 q-cab so that i can install the rails for the lighted, oversized, stainless wing i ordered from www.taylorwings.com . any tricks to make it easy??
Iceman I had my headliner out to install clearance lights last week
I found the cover that latch the rear doors took the longest to get out all I can say is take your time and wash your hands before you handle the head liner. Not a hard job just take your time.
T put my roof antenna in, i just opened both doors on one side and pulled down the weather stripping around the top of the door frame, Then you can easily get the wires up through one of the A pillars.
Depends where you need to access the roof, if you will need full access, i would guess you would have to take the console down. I have never taken the entire headliner down, just one side at a time.
Iceman the overhead conosle will come out just open the front flap and you will see two tabs push the tabe and pull down then slide it back and unplug the wires / one plug
On a slightly different topic, has anyone had their headliner dyed? Where did you have it done? The factory creamy color clashes with the agate, for one thing, and I just prefer a darker headliner. (also hides the handprints better!)
You could use a pair of clean rubber surgical or white cloth gloves. I'd opt for the cloth since they would be a tad easier to re-use later when re-installing.
