Has anyone lost their vp44 after installing a fass or airdog fuel pump? Are these doing the trick as far as keeping the injector pump alive?

Yes... ..... Consider the Vp44 a wear part. With all the flow it can handle it will still wear out, just not as quick.

knock on wood mine is great, however I installed my FASS, 2 days after a new VP was put in, so that may be a factor.

the vp doesnt wear specifically, if you are adding a lot of fuel and are putting an excessive amount of load on the pump than yes it will, if not with adequate fuel it should live a long happy life, just as any other rotary pump

Trust me they DO wear out,,,,,,,,,,,,,I have replaced hundreds WITH good fuel supply. The electronics don't last for ever either. I see them fail both ways. Every mechanical part wears throughout its life... ..... till it quits ;) The electronics also have a finite life. I started changing them out in 98 and I am still changing them now.

mine died an electronic death due to the drag comp with my FASS installed. the pump was sound mechanically but the electronics were fubar'd and it ran like a dog turd. replaced with a HRVP44 and its great

I got the death code back in early April last year. I put on a FASS system shortly after that, and knock on wood... My pump is still working, and the code is still there. :--) Now to keep my truck running as I am too poor to replace the pump yet, every one reading this thread has to repeat after me... "Stan's truck is going to keep running forever. " :D LOL thanks guys. So far lady luck has been on my side.

I checked for engine codes after completing my FASS install and had a 0216 code... code wasn't there a month prior when I had last checked them. Long story short and after experiencing dead pedals, hard starts and other symptoms, my VP-44 died 13 months later... I attribute it's extended life with the "death" code to my FASS.
