Is there anyway on a 1993 dually to beef up the suspension so I can hual more than 10500lb in the pickup bed?

The 10500 is what the sticker says, will the factory springs handle more?

Wow... . that's an awful lot of weight..... I suppose anything is possible BUT if you are going to be doing that weight regularly, the cost of modifications may outweigh just buting a bigger truck..... I hate to admit it but I have a grossly overloaded truck I use in Business... . It is a 1981 D250 that the previous owner used to haul a 500 gallon water tank on for his home drinking water... . I bought the truck from him (By the way... he put in a ton truck rear w/ 4. 10 gears and made it a dually)... . I currently use the truck to haul a 600 Gallon EZ Lawn Hydroseeder (Base weight of the spray rig is

1200 lbs plus say 7 gallons of gas (not sure how much gas weighs per gallon) but say maybe like water at 8 lbs per gallon?, and conservatively 500 gallons of water min for 4000 in water weight and I'm running an easy 5256 lbs in the bed of the truck... . brakes do get hot in stop and go city driving (this weight does not include me or the hundreds of lbs of supplies I have to put into the tank when mixing and spraying)... . Dodge trucks are tough but I am really not sure you'd want to nearly double the wight I haul... . I'm looking to get a 1981 S1900 Medium Duty International truck to better deal with the weight... . will probably be safer too..... Just my 2 cents but I'd be curious to see how 10K would work or not work... . Good luck!

what kind of lead are you hauling? when i go to the feed mill for the corn and oats roled with molasses,(candy to the beefers) i can't hardly stack more than 25 bags (about 2500,3000 tops) without spilling over the sides.

i think if you look at the sticker again, 10,500 may be total for the truck, not just the rear. If you realy want to go nutz and park a backhoe on the front of your gooseneck, you could look into some airbags, i belive hellwig carries some, others on this forum may have better advise on that.

4k more

Yes the 10500 is the truck total, I am looking to get maybe anther 3k more in the rear so total gvw would be around 13500. I see the f450 use dana 70 and rears carry 3k more than the dodge. so is it just the springs, and frame?

What about tires? The 450 has the 19. 5's right? It sounds like you need a bigger truck or a trailer. I have put a couple tons of rock in the bed of mine, but only for a couple miles. Not every day.

The F450 also has ten lugs holding the wheels on, heavier springs, and much bigger brakes. I wouldn't go too much over what the door sticker says even with additional springs or air bags. Going over the max the truck is rated for becomes a legal issue, and here in New York they issue HUGE fines for being over-weight. Also if you were ever involved in an accident and it's determined you were over-loaded you open yourself up to lawsuits, not to mention the fact that your insurance company may not cover you due to negligence on your part by overloading.
