Is there anything that can be used with a box that adds to much pressure to keep the pressures at a safe level? Other than just monitoring it with a pressure guage.

Besides just not turning it up all the way?

Exactly who wants to spend money on a box and only be able to turn it halfway up. I have an Edge EZ right now and am going to be adding a Bully Dog Power pup. Ive heard that both of these on the higher settings raise pressures.

My Ramifier is never on unless I need to make big power or smoke. I've dynoed as high as 493 hp on timing and duration alone so why risk my injectors daily driving?

Ditto here with keeping the pressure box turned down.

I would be interested to know what box your talking about?

If you install larger injectors and or a duration box you may find that the pressure won't reach as high as it does without.

Im talking about the Edge EZ and BDDL.

I personally think your money would be better spent on a TST box, than on the BDDL, if you already have the EZ. The TST will give you a better performance gain than the BDDL, and you won't have to worry, (as much), about too much pressure. Either way, if your sig is correct, be prepared to spend more money on other upgrades, such as a clutch and turbo.

I have both the TST and BDDL, plus a Ramifier for pressure.

From a driveability standpoint, the best feel (similar to stock, but more power) comes from the BDDL, and a little extra pressure when you're in a hurry. I can't report on high TST settings because the clutch won't hold.

The BDDL has good power off-boost, which the TST does not unless you have the twins flash.

The TST can be a bit peaky, and you have to pay more attention to how you're driving so you don't bark the turbo. My girlfriend can't drive my truck with the boxes turned up w/o barking the turbo.

With just the downloader she does fine.

The ease of installing the downloader is great, plus the adjustability is cool. And the smoke levels when stacked with a turned up pressure box is insane. Only when you want it, though. You can keep the smoke down by not lugging it or giving large throttle inputs at low boost.

If I had to choose one fueling box/downloader to keep forever, it would be the TST. I can definitely live without the other two.

The TST is somewhat time consuming to install, but the results are great. If you're worried about warranty, it's one of the more difficult (if not the most) fueling box to detect. It does everything (except boost fooling) post-ecm, so the ecm thinks the motor is running normally.

The Ramifier scares me. The rattle is a lot louder with the Ramifier turned up. I'm getting a rail pressure gauge asap.

I do like the TST and plan to add it some day but I got a good deal on the BDDL and yes I do plan on clutch and turbo after I sell the 98.

The van Aaken pressure box is very safe. If you are wanting to stack with a pressure box I would use a van Aaken C3. 2 which is only duration or the TST.

JCleary,

Does the TST do no boost fooling at all? Or does it just do it through ecm?

The TST does do boost fooling, but not like pressure boxes. The TST will just limit the boost the ecm sees to 21psi (I think). I believe it's to eliminate overboost codes.

Pressure boxes tweak the boost readings to get a response out of the ecm, like increasing timing and duration. I don't know enough about how it works to truly break it down.

IMO I would not run just an EZ on higher settings. Instead use the TST and stack the EZ but on a lower setting. That will give you even better power with lower rail pressures.
