Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Any way to tell what pump is on a truck?

I was wondering if you can tell what pump is on a truck if it has been changed or do they just change the internals to make a 160 into a 215? Thanks for any input.

There should be a serial number on the side or rear of the pumps, get that and I can check it online in the Cummins Quick Serve parts look-up.
