Big 3 diesel shootout

P.O. Box & Ordering

business with South Western Diesel of St George Utah. I got quoted $615 for bd 50 hp ingectors installed. ?????? I guess the price is OK I just hope they are. I was told I wouldn't see over 1000 deg EGT with this set up. I talked to DD in Vegas about DD11's and was told I would have EGT problems. I sure would like to have the power but don't want to be worrying about temps all the time. I don't tow real heavy 4000lb travel trailer and 6 or seven hundred pounds of stuff in the back. Any suggestions? I can't afford a bigger turbo got to live with the hy35. S West said the Rv275's wouldn't give me much extra power. Thanks in advance for any info you guys can give me. LOL

RichB:confused:

I would do a little more research if I were you. There are a lot of guys with an EZ and DDII's that tow just fine. I am soon to be one of them. :D :D

You should not have a real EGT problem with this setup just a big grin :D

I would be more worried about your transmission holding up that EGT's. An AFE and a four inch or strait piped exhaust would help a lot with the temperature IMHO

(Sorry did not read your sig completely  you are good to go!)

stage 2 injectors and Ez and toss in desert temperatures= High EGT's

Listen to Diesel Dynamics

The DTT transmission will be fine

There was a set of 275's in the classifieds for $200. 00. It looks like they are quoting you stage 1 injectors

I did not consider the weather as far as being a problem! But then I never see over 80 on the Washington coast.

You should be fine with the stage 1's, fine as in hardly ever have to back out for temps. Any bigger and the HY is gonna choke at altitude and high temps. The 275RV injectors should be within 10-15 HP of the stage 1's, and are a TON cheaper. Spend some money on a low mile HX35, and then pop for some stage 2's.

I've got an '01 HO, stock hx35, with just an EZ box, and with the high profile slide in camper towing a 7000 lb trailer I have to back out of it climbing long high altitude passes in the summer because of high EGT's.

OK, so I get the bigger 40 turbo ($$$)

then I'll need Stage II injectors to keep up with the turbo (more $$$) then I'll need to get a new SB clutch to hook it all up (yet more $$$)

Where does it all end??

When it ends

I am not sure but I think it ends when you are out of money, out of patients, out of lucky, or out of time(dead) or when you want to go back to stock power :D

It all ends when you drop dead :D

Once you feel the power, there is simply no turning back...   :-{} Oo.

It's only money afterall. I've been doing my part to stimulate the economy.....

I agreee if you tow through the mountain or in the desert I would not go any higher than DD'2 and the EZ. I only tow 6000 pounds and while towing through the mountains I have to watch the trottle as the EGT's can get really high easily of coarse I am cruising at 65-70 MPH and that maybe part of my problem. I guess I need to cough up more dough for and Hx40 or something.
