Hey fellas, I'm thinking about picking up a set of Bosch RV275's, or 300HP injectors as they've become known on eBay, but I was wondering what the true horsepower/torque gains are with them. They claim 40-60 HP but I didn't know if that was with other modifications/fine tuning.

Has anybody dynoed an otherwise stock truck with these injectors? What was the result?

They should net you about 20-30hp at the ground.

Are they worth the money? Yes, for mild and economic purposes.

They will also help with mileage.

Take a look at the dyno sheet below, I borrowed it from Diesel Dynamics and all the other curves are there injectors.

You can see the RV275's do show a good improvment. If it where me I would spend the extra $$ and go with a stage 2 injector instead. You can find them used in the classifieds all the time. With that said my father (Jack in Alaska) has RV275's and a boost fooler as his only mods. He loves the way it drives and it pulls his 34ft fifth wheel just fine. He gets the same mileage he did before the swap and the benifits of more HP.

I agree that DD2's would probably better satisfy my performance desire, but the price is holding me back on that one.

I have the bad habit of making spontaneous, impulse purchases and it wouldn't bother me to drop $250 on a set of injectors which would give me a couple of hours of fun installing plus the added power. For me, a $600 purchase requires a substantial amount of financial planning and honestly, I'm really not that concerned with power right now. I have a great running truck and I'm of the philosophy not to fix it if it ain't broke. I was really just gonna have these around when I did need them - $600 is a lot to have sitting on the shelf collecting dust.

I also realize that most people don't have problems after installing injectors but I really don't want to compromise the reliabilty of my truck. I know several people have had problems with rough/spotty idling after swapping out injectors. I also don't really care for the added smoke that bigger injectors give either.

I appreciate that chart - it was just what I was looking for.

Go with what you want.

275's are fine and a good investment.

You can always get a couple hundred bucks out of them when you decide to sell.

Are 275's worth the money for what it gives? Just depends on whether you really have an SO or HO. I have heard several people with HO's say they only give around 30rwhp. I myself have 275's in my SO and MAN!!!!!!!!... it woke it up! They claim 50rwhp on the SO's and I believe it. I know that DD1's or 2's will give it more power, but the 275's are worth the money for me right now... . especially since I only gave $200 for them (3K miles on them) and it took only 2 1/2 hours to install them.

I wanted something for towing though. If you want something to play with on the street or race, go bigger and don't waste your $$$ on 275's. If you want something to tow with and find a good deal on used DD2's, get 'em and get a boost fooler and elbow to go with it. (unless you have a fueling box already)

Generally, I'd say that HOs respond much more to injectors, so it's the opposite of what you are saying. SOs will only get about 33hp from 275s. HOs get a hair more- maybe 38-40.

SOs do NOT get 50hp from 275s. It's a noticeable increase for sure, but drop in some DD2s or mach 1. 5s and you'll know what "woke up" really is!

If you're thinking about a set of 275's, there's a review of an interesting alternative in the next TDR. It might be worth your while to wait a couple weeks to read it and THEN decide.

I will have to argue with you on that one, before I bought those 275's, I called TST and they said 50rwhp and 100rwtq on my '00 SO. It even says it on their site. http://www.tstproducts.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=12

I also talked to 2 fellow members that I P. M. because I saw 275's in their sig and they both had '98. 5-'00 SO's and they both said that they definetely could believe 50rwhp claim after they stuck them in. I will see if I still have the P. M. replies saved in my mail box.

And I would already have dynoed my 275's, but the nearest dyno is 135 miles away.

well for what it is worth. I dynoed my truck when I put in the ez and it put up 257hp. I have added rv275's since then and also had my transmission built. Just a few weeks ago dynoed again on a different dyno and came out with an even 300hp. So that netted me 43hp gain. Now that was on different dynos, the trans had been redone and it had an ez with the 275's.

That graph is correct with the right dyno #'s on an HO. Those HO's dyno at around 190rwhp. The SO's dyno around 170rwhp I believe. So the 275's on the chart showing around a 35rwhp increase is exactly what it does on an HO. I wish someone had #'s before and after 275's on a '98. 5-'00 SO.
