What are the ballpark prices you guys are getting for the combo CD/cassette units? If it is enough mine could be sold too and a new badazz Alpine could reside in the dash. I will eventually upgrade the stereo, but am curious what the going rate is for the old one.

Update

For anyone who wonders, yes you can swap these factory radios in and out without modification. I just received the RAZ today (Thanks MR V!) and swapped it for my RAS. It took about 10 minutes and plugged right in. It works just fine. Oo.

Do the newer OEM CD players play a cd made on a cd burner?

The one in my 98. 5v does not. Comes up with "ERR" on display.

My son's 2001 plays them fine.

Jack, my 99 plays the CDR's fine if I burn them at no more than 8x, you may also find that some software that you use to burn is harder to get to work than others. I use Adaptec CD Creator for mine, and you can get the sofware off of Morpheus or similar file sharing networks. Hope this helps.

the first time I ever heard of a CD was when I bought the truck, new little records to me:confused: no being ignorant but music just aint my bag, I listen to the turbo or the 4" exhaust or both:D

This thread prompted me to remove the Pioneer casette head unit and CD changer from my travel trailer (we never use the stereo in it) and install it in my Dodge. Then I ordered the steering wheel remote for it from Pioneer. Now I'll stick the old Sony unit that was in the Dodge into the travel trailer, and I'll be set for the total cost of $54 for the remote, including 2nd day air shipping!:D

A buddy of mine just took a Infinety CD/Cass out of a 01 V10. His original CD player quit working and Dodge replaced it with a new one less than a month before he decided to go aftermarket. So it is brand new. He offered it to me for $150 since mine came only with a cassette. I went aftermarket also, so he still has it. Let me know if your interested.

querstions

Sounds good, but let me check the local junkyard today.

Do the tweeters on the a-pillars indicate an Infinity system? How else would I know. Does it make a difference?

Re: querstions

Anybody got a RF Door speaker with the Amp for the infinity for sale? Mine started rattleing around 20K miles, but by the time I relized it was the speaker warrantee was up.

But its not really that bad, I now have 85K on it so I been "living with it" :(

I will purchase for $150. i had a 2001 that I totaled out and I really liked the infinity system, but couldn't find good deals on CD trucks on the lot.

email me at -- email address removed -- and we can discuss

Can I mix and match? What's the Infinity deal? I forgot to check out her truck--she's still in FL.

Mine has RAZ on it--CD/Cass/radio.

I'm still looking to buy, but need some interchange info. And I want to keep hers as stock as possible (she wants that)

And mine has some really awful mushy bass on a "talk radio" station. They really punch up the reverb there and everybody (G Gordon) sounds like CRAP-even with the bass and mid controls bottom out. What to overcome this? Stereo sounds great otherwise. ONE stupid commercial station mucks it up.
