Competition Tulare, CA resulsts & video?

ok, im gettin into pullin and am wondering something. i have an NP205 i was gonna use on my rock crawler before i found my new hobby of sled pullin and am wondering if any of you guys have used a 205 since this one is free. i know they are strong but dont know if theyre strong enough to hold +1***#s of torque... . if i can id just rather use it since i have done some work on the shift fork rods so i have 4hi 4low 2hi front 2hi rear and 2low front and 2 low rear, all separate plus i can actually put 2hi or low front with 2hi or low rear... ..... anybody ever used one? i know the all gear driven insides are tougher than a weddin dick but dont know in comparison to the chain driven 241/271s..... all help appreciated

Ive used one for 3 years with no problem. Just make sure you use the larger 29 spline input shaft and not the 23 spline the autos use. Ive broke several of these with my auto and had to upgrade and make a coupler to go from 23 to 29 splines. Anybody know where to get a 1480 series yoke for an NP205? Ive already broke two factory 1410 series yokes.

the 241dhd handles everything until you go to mega power and then you need a drop box--the 271 is even stouter---either one of those would be my choice before the 205--here's a link to a chart for the most recent t-cases:

I know at one time there was a list that included the NP205, but I can't find it, but I believe it was below either of these in strenth---chris

drasko - I have 83 hooks on mine. Definitely use the large spline manual transmission tranfer case and not the automatic. Another thing to remember since you're building a second gen: first gens have the differential on the right side, low range is 1. 96:1 versus 2. 72:1 of the 241, the shifter locations are different in a first gen (but it sounds like you may already have changed your levers around), and you will need to install a larger seal in the rear housing of your transmission to accept the coupler. If you want to spend money ProFab has the low range kit for the 205. All in all it may be easier to install a 241 or 271 into your truck and send me the 205. :D

dzlpower - Call Mark at Greensburg Machine and Driveline 724-837-8233 for the yoke.

Hey thanks for the number on the yoke. I will be giving them a call tommarro. I wouldn't mind going to an NP241 or 271 but I have to have the right side drop since my truck is a first gen. I don't know of anywhere to get a right side drop 241 or 271 besides changing my entire front axle to accomidate either one. I guess if my 205 gives me alot of trouble I may do it for next year.
