Anybody run the Oilguard brand bypass?

Aftermarket map/boost sensor??

Anyone had this happen on a 06?

I am in the market for a bypass oil filter system for my 06. My first choice was the Amsoil remote unit (only because I was going to run Amsoil) with the full flow filter and the bypass all on the same mount. After looking under the truck as well as under the hood, I don't see the space to mount the unit. So I came across the Oilguard set up via Google and there kit looks simple and easy to install.



Any info or input on the unit would be great. Also the price for the Oilguard unit is much less (even after the commercial account discount) than the Amsoil unit.

Oilguard is a good choice. I went with Filtration Solutions Worldwide and I am very pleased. There is no modifications to be made and they have the best instructions I have ever seen with color photos. Their filters are just a little bit better than OilGuards and they cost $23. I beleive OilGuards are $16. They are both excellent systems. Do your research and choose which one will be best for you. Good luck.
 
On my 96 the system mounts on the outside of the passenger's side frame rail. I haven't held oilguard's kit personnally but the FS 2500 is well made and easy to mount. :D

I recently installed an oilguard system on my truck. I did some research before my purchase. I was originally going to go with the FS2500 but the I could not justify the price but I still think that it is a great system. The Oilguard is also a very well made unit being produced in Oceanside, California (another advantage for me being close to home). I take it you are going for the EPS20 model. If so, the canister is made of heavy gauge steel and and the screw on cap is a solid machined aluminum billet. The oil cap is made from anodized aluminun (The website shows a red cap. Mine came with a blue one that matched my truck. . luuuckyyy). I mounted mine on the passenger side frame. They give enough hose to be able to route it nicely. I added hoseclamps to the barbed hose fittings but I did not tighten them extremely tight for obvious reasons.

Now the filter element. It is made of some sort of tightly symetrically wound string (it reminds me of kite string). The installation was simple. The hardest part is drilling and tapping the frame for the canister. The oil tap is convenient when it come time to take a sample which oilguard also offers. I am running amsoil 15-40w heavy duty diesel and marine oil with a donaldson endurance filter but you can whatever oil and filter you want. It currently has 3K miles on the system, I like the way that combination makes my truck run smooth and quiet. Contrary to popular belief though, my oil is still visibly darker that what it was. Only an oil analysis can tell if it is still good. I sent a baseline sample of my previous oil (4000 miles), then I sent a sample of my current oil when it had 400 miles. I will send another sample at 5k and determine then if I can go at least 10K, or maybe more?? Previous oil changes were made by the dealer and cost major bucks. A nice upgrade to the system would be braided hoses.
 
I did alot of research before going with the Oilguard system. In my opinion, there is no difference in the filters between the Oilguard and the FS. Unless someone can show me any benefit, I can't see spending the extra $ on the FS. Both filters are identicle.

btw- I now have a Motorguard post Oilguard for the ultimate in filtration. Next analysis will tell... . Oo.

For anyone who has the Oilguard system. Did you need to add more oil after installing the system? It seems the oil would be low now with the amount contained in the Oilguard system. I only added the normal 12 quarts and my oil level looks the same even with the Oilguard system installed?

I'm not Bashing Amsoil, I run Amsoil in everything I have. But here's a good TSB on AMSOIL By-Pass system for 2004 and Newer trucks

This Amsoil TSB is simply saying that the single filter is more than adequate and what

Amsoil recommends for the 2004+ trucks. The single unit is one specified for these

trucks in the online store so why do people try to use something else?
 
I have used the Oilgard and found it to be useful but slightly difficult to change elements. I would use one again. I have the Amsoil on a Voyager that is trouble free, a little expensive but seems to be a good unit on that smaller engine. On my CTD I have Motor Guards from Ralph Wood.
